M was the reason they got in the Maw in the first place.
T Hates M for that and makes him feel bad for that (he doesn't do that anymore cause E threaten him the he'll will smash Susan and throw away the pieces of her when they escape, if he catches him hurting M's feelings. So T is 'nice' to him and by being nice is to him but in a salty way)
TOR threatens him and lowered his self esteem (not enough to make him suicidal) so M is scared of him (and so he only told E the T only was doing this is because he's scared of what TOR could do)
And M feels so bad about it so when he's consistently reminded about it E has to comfort him which is why his self esteem isn't fully shattered (to be honest it average since people care about him) plus to add anyone else who cares about him that would be me and his other friends (you all know who you are).................
