The girl who thought she was invisible

I was walking down a long hallway. I dont know where I was, all I knew was that I was alone. Suddenly, something or someone started following me. I looked back- nothing was there. I started to pick up the pase, frightend. I finally reached the end of the hallway-I could see a field with dandelions and lazy suzans. As I reached for the doorway, something caught my eye- two people. From a distance, it looked like a boy and a girl about 15 or 16 years old. They were laying down in the grass, looking up at the sky. I thought for a moment...how can I get their attention? I started walking through the opening when something stopped me suddenly. It felt like a barrier between me and the people outside. I was screaming, yelling as loud as my voice could carry, trying to get their attention, but for some reason, I couldn't. I saw something beyond the boy and the girl in the distance. I tried again, getting their attention, as it was coming toward them, slowly. Then, something odd happened. I closed my eyes for a minute and everything went dark.  

Minutes later, I woke up in my bed, and found myself sweating. I looked at the clock. It read 7:16 a.m. It was a Tuesday- the first day back to school since the car accident. I got up from my bed, heading to my dresser to pick something to wear. I heard people talking downstairs-my mom or brother maybe? I got my clothes on and went downstairs. Sure enough, it was my brother talking to my mom about his plans for university. 

"Good morning," I said as I sat down at the table. 

"Good morning," my mom replies. "How was your sleep?''

"It was good," I reply in a tired voice. "I had this weird dream about-" 

I get cut off by the sound of the front door opening. My two best friends, Amanda and Jenny walk in, talking about the daily gossip at our school.

"Hailey! We've missed you soo much. Its so good you're coming back to school!", says Jenny.
