Marnie Gray wanted nothing more than to fall in love. She wanted the lazy days, spent loving her beau, or even cuddling up near the fire place to watch movies. She wanted the raw, pure, fire in your soul-

Festering, aching, archaically destroying,

But something to wish to god,  that she would find happiness, forlorn the heartbreak nearing her.

She wanted the type of love to wash over you-
filling you with intense feelings of passion,
although despised the kind that would make you crash and fall.

So she wanted, but feared.

The lion eats the rabbit after all.

"Marnie dear, can you fetch me the mail outside for me please? I'm caught up making supper." Her mother called, Marnie hollering a yes in response.

She skipped down the stairs, her hazelnut hair turning to a light blond from the sun outside of the window, arching to a prismatic brown.

The door creaked open with a squeak, making Marnie jump thinking it was a rat.

The faint wind cooly kissed her skin, making goosebumps arrive underneath her wooly sweater. She shivered, confused as to why she was cold.

'Maybe I'm sick.' She thought, heading inside with a packet of parcels stuffed in between her arms.

"Thank you so much Marns," Her mother sorted through the mail. She lifted a brow in surprise, handing a letter to Marnie.

"For me?" She asked laughing. Marnie hoped it was money, she had an eye on some very expensive shoes.

"Open it, maybe it's a Secret admirer." Her mom winked, making Marnie gasp audibly and running up towards her room.

"She's such a tease. No one wants to be my secret admirer." Marnie muttered, ripping open her letter. She was careful not to ruin the beautiful stamp on the outside, it was a dove, enlaced with golden thread.

A parchment fell out from her hands, series of loose leaf were at her feet.

"What in the world..." Marnie whispered, picking up the paper on her wooden floor.

Patches of scribbled pictures

of her.

Marnie yelped in surprise, dropping them once more.

"Wow," she murmured seeing a scratchy message towards the bottom of her hand drawn face.

'A Rose, too beautiful not to pick out from the garden. A sun, too bright not to see. You, a human too radiantly gorgeous and swelteringly happy, makes all the difference to a rainy day.

Yours Truly,
-L.B'

Marnie giggled and pressed a hand to her mouth, smiling from the theoretical insects scrounging in her stomach.

No, not insects.

A sea of burning fire flys, lighting up her insides, and everything in between.

She fell back on her bed, keeping the heartfelt pages near her heart.

"I'm in love!" She belted out, twisting and turning, squeezing her eyes shut, praying to god it wasn't a dream.

Because if it was, she never wanted to wake up.
