Chapter One: Callia Riley Brooks
I dipped my sponge into the foamy bucket and took it out, shaking it abit before actually wiping the window with it. I had to get all the windows in the house done before my evil witch of a stepmother Monique got here with her daughter Amanda or Mandy the name she goes by.
I grabbed a dry rag and wiped the windows so they were squeaky clean, and didn't have watermarks streaming down them. I heard a car park into the driveway and quickly moved my things. I could hear Monique's heels clicking together so I stood up on the last step as she walked through the door with Mandy.
"What are you doing?" Monique shouted finally noticing me.
"I was just -"
"Didn't I ask you to clean the windows?" She questioned
"I finished them." I told her
"Oh, really?" She asked placing her arms infront of her
I nodded
"Really. I did." I replied
She looked at the windows and then I finally saw the plastic cup she had in her hand. I was pretty sure it was coffee because she threw against the nearest window and I just stood there. Not able to do anything.
"Look's like you missed a spot." Monique said with a smirk.
She walked past me and bumped me off abit before I watched as she climbed the stairs as if she was royalty. Then I turned my head around and saw Mandy with a smirk on her face.
"When you're done cleaning that window again." She said pointing the coffee stain, " You can make me a sandwich because, I'm really hungry."
"Why can't you make it yourself?" I questioned, "Your standing right next to the kitchen!"
She sent glares my way.
"Did I say you could talk?" She shouted
I stayed silent. I didn't want to say anything else that was going to make her mad. And when Mandy was mad. She was like a vicious dog.
"That's what I thought." Mandy said with a triumphant smile on her face
She pushed me aside when she made her way up the staircase. I sighed and got back to work. As I was working, I heard my cell phone singing at the back of my pocket. I took it out and looked at it to see a message from Donna.
She's the only lady that knows what Monique and Mandy do to me, but can't say anything because she'll lose her job and I don't want that to happen. Basically, Donna's like a loving mother to me.
-- Message Me Now!
I quickly started texting back with a reply.
-- Is There Something Wrong?
A few seconds later I heard a 'beep' sound.
-- Would You Be Able To Come Shopping With Me?
-- No. Sorry
-- Callia! You Have To Come It's For My Wedding! And Your One Of My Bridesmaids!
I was about to respond to that text but then felt my phone was ripped from my hands. I looked up to see Monique.
"Your wasting time." She snapped and placed my phone in her pocket, "GET CLEAING!"
I did as she said and cleaned up the coffee stain mess. I walked into the kitchen and fixed Mandy a sandwich. When I gave it to her she threw it right back at me and told me to order her pizza instead. I did as I was told and called for pizza.
If you haven't noticed. I'm your 21st Century Cinderella. Except I have only one stepsister rather than two. And, I'm not sure if my Prince Charming is out there riding on his white horse towards me rescuing me from the situation I'm currently in.
If he is, I've only got a few things to say. What's taking him so long?
