A ten year old boy named James "Jay" Crompton was studying in a private school after vacation. He had met new friends and had met old friends.
He did good in school. He always got straight A's and no lower than that. He was an outstanding child.
One Sunday, the family went into a trip to the mall. Everyone had got $100 (5000 pesos if ur Filipino) each to spend. James did not think of food, clothes, or anything because their family is always rich.
Their family went past the toy store at the mall and one thing did catch James's eye. A cube with six twistable colourful sides.
James's Dad: Are you sure you like that toy? It could be a real challenge for you.
James: It looks cool. I wanna buy this puzzle.
James's Dad: Good luck with that son. And oh! There is a flyer inside the box that can help you. It has a lot of patterns.
James: Well, I guess I'll be solving this. Wish me luck.
He brought the toy home and went straight to his room. He left it locked so no one would disturb him in his solve.
The cube was a fast cube. It is used for speedcubing.
He checked the flyer. And it has written simple steps to solve the cube.
James: This is easy. Heh. If I know what I am doing...
Well that's not true. He had spent countless nights trying to solve one cube.
Twisting here, twisting there. It's hopeless.
James: Oh no. It's impossible. The flyer is in Chinese....
But he did not gave up easily. He was so curious on how to solve it, he looked up tutorials on the internet.
James wrote down all patterns on his notepad and made a sequence on the walls. It goes like this:
-Cross
-First 2 Layers
-OLL
-PLLEven though it was on the internet, he used that method.
Now, he tried to solve the cube...
3 minutes passed, and he eventually solved the cube. But he knew it wasn't the full potential of the cube's speed. He tried to make his method faster, and searched a few finger tricks on the web.
He tested himself again... and it became an average of 1 minute and 30 seconds!
He was so happy, he went to the living room to show his parents what he has done.
James: Dad! Mom! Look, I got to solve a cube!
James's Dad: Wow. You solved it! I am really proud of you, son.
James's Mom: I have heard from my friends that their children can do the cube, too. Why don't we make you join them so you guys can share ideas in your hobby.
Their names were:
John
Mikey
Link
and KyleIt also became a habit to James to meet his friends to cube.
They shared cubes, stories, and even secrets. They became good... no... best friends.
Months later, he has been collecting cubes now and has more than 50. He trades it with his friends.
He also has a new average of 40 seconds. And it was a fair start.
At their home, Kyle thought
Kyle: What if we compete in each other who is the fastest?
Link: Really? Who wants to go first?
James: How about the youngest goes first.
John: Ok. James, since you're the youngest. How about you go first.
James: Well... Here I g-
Link: Wait.. Let's use these. These are timers used in the competitions. Wanna try?
Surely enough. They scrambled each of their 3 by 3s and put them in cardboard boxes. And the cube has it's name on it.
James: Finally. Here I Go!
Huzzah me amigos! This is my new story I have been working on. Hopw you liked it. I just thought if this a while ago since I am a cuber. Well, TSF101, out!
