They are just outside of Idaho City when they see it. Well, Kevin sees it first. "Guys look! A falling star!" They all immediately look towards the sky. They know it's best not to ignore Kevin when he's excited about something.

Scott frowns as he gazes up at the sky. It is a falling star, but it's strange. He's never seen one so close before.

"It's awfully close, isn't it?" Avi mirrors his thoughts and the rest nod in agreement.

Scott just shakes his head and continues walking. "Come on you guys, we need to keep moving. Do you think these ghosts will take care of themselves?"

They all follow him up the hill in silence. The star forgotten for the moment.

Being a hunter is not something Scott would recommend, to anyone. It's messy and painful and it wears you down until there is nothing left but insanity. If you're lucky, you get killed before that happens. Scott has seen enough dead people to last him several lifetimes. He's gotten hurt more times than he, or even Kevin, can count and he's pretty sure he's developed a slight paranoia over the years. His body is practically made from scars at this point and yet he won't quit. He refuses to just walk away from it all and get himself a normal life. This is his life and he has come to terms with that. He accepted that a long time ago and it's fine. He's fine.

The job was harder before when Scott had been alone. Now that he has people with him, the load doesn't feel quite as heavy anymore. They've even become friends. Sure, on some days he has the urge to kill all of them just to shut them up, but he loves them and they know it. He'll never admit it out loud, but in some ways, they saved him. He will forever be grateful for that. He never expresses his affection for them, but he prefers it that way. A little fear in a friendship is nothing but healthy if you ask Scott.

It's a lot more fun hunting as a group as well, especially the aftermath of a successful hunt. They feel like they're on top of the world and nothing can hurt them, not even the past.

That's exactly how they feel right now. They had succeeded in getting rid of all the ghosts in the old church, saving countless people. None of them had gotten badly hurt. Kevin managed to get himself a black eye, but Scott counted it as a win.

He feels warm inside as he looks at his friends, all gathered around the fire deep in the woods, far away from the outside world. The town is quiet and peaceful with the moon shining brightly above. No one has any idea of what they were just saved from and that's how it should be.

Kevin is typing away on his iPad. They never really know what he's doing on it and have all learned the hard way not to ask. Next to him is Kirstin. She's quiet as she stares into the fire, but she's smiling contently as she fiddles with the necklace around her throat. Avi is making s'mores, stuffing his face full, only stopping occasionally to laugh at something Kevin said. Avi always works up a ridiculous appetite after a hunt so Scott leaves him to it.
