My name is Amelia. I'm 11 years old. Just an ordinary girl; there's nothing extraordinary about me. Except for my intelligence, I guess. I attend an ordinary high school, but I don't talk to anyone there - I prefer to be alone.

That's a lie. Nobody wants to be alone. Not really.

I sigh as I turn the final page of my completed maths test with no doubt that I got at least 90%. I don't get anxious about test results. I turn my head slightly to find Joe, a boy in my class, looking directly at me with a menacing smirk on his face. I concentrate all of my fiber and being into not having a panic attack here and now, and I manage it. Just.

I suddenly hear the shrill ring of the school bell. Home time. I frown, realising that I had been focused on myself for a whole ten minutes. Stupid, selfish Amelia.

I swallow the lump that appears to have emerged in my throat and pick up my bags, taking one deep breath before walking out of the classroom.
