Shikamaru (Fluff)

     You walked down the bustling main street as ninjas and shoppers shuffled by. You had a big bag of groceries in your arms as you tried to make your way through without bumping into too many people. You just wanted to get home and put away your groceries before you took a nap. It was a lazy afternoon day and you wanted nothing more then to be home alone in sweats relaxing for a few hours before you went to work at the ramen shop you cooked at. You groaned as your bag ripped and an apple inside it fell to the ground. Bending down to grab it before it got kicked and bruised you felt someone slam into your side and your bag ripped completely sending all of your groceries flying across the busy walk way of main street. Along with your groceries flying off you were knocked to the ground and scraped your knee on a stray pebble. You yelped as you hit the ground and someone stepped on your back shoving you even harder against the pavement. You groaned and pushed yourself up crawling after your runaway food just to have it knocked out of your hands again and go flying away. You reached for the only food of yours you still saw which happened to be the lone apple you had originally dropped. Reaching for the apple you grabbed it just to find someone elses hand on top of yours. Quickly letting go you looked up to see who was holding it and met the tired eyes of Shikamaru. Shikamaru's eyes widened slightly to see that it was you kneeling in the middle of main street grabbing for an apple.

"Oh! (Y/n) are you okay? I- here I grabbed some of your stuff that went flying." He swung a bag at his side off his shoulder to show most of your groceries inside it. Grabbing your hand he pulled you to your feet and steered you off of the busy street and to a quieter road nearby, all the while still holding your hand tightly. "Here's your apple and your other things too.." He handed you the apple before handing you his bag. You smiled up at him, your face red from embarrassment and relief that he got your things for you.

"Thank you Shikamaru! You're really a life saver, but.. I don't have a bag to carry my groceries in now.." You looked down at your feet awkwardly but Shikamaru just laughed and shrugged.

"Please (Y/n) just call me Shika, we've known each other long enough for that. Also, you can just take my bag home with you." He smiled his gaze looking far off as though he wasn't really paying any attention to the interaction. Sighing you shook your head.

"Really no, I couldn't take your bag. When would I get it back to you!?" You pushed the bag that he was offering out to you back towards him, but he just laughed and stepped closer putting the strap of the bag over your shoulder so you were holding it.

"Honestly take it. You don't have to give it back at all, or if... I mean if you really want to give it back to me we could just find a time to have lunch or something and you can give it back then..?" He smiled awkwardly and your eyes widened.

"Wh-what? I mean.. Yeah that's uhm.. A good plan. We can just meet up for lunch sometimes like so many friends do and then I can give it back.. O-of course." Shika made a strange face at you and opened and closed his mouth a few times before actually responding.

"Or.. We could meet up for lunch as.. a sort of date? That's only if you are interested but I've had my eye on you for a while (Y/n) and I was hoping we could go on a date... Even if it's just as friends I suppose..." He trailed off quietly and you could swear in the small silence that followed he could hear every racing thump of your heart.

"Really? I would be delighted to go on a date with you Shika! I just.. I never thought you saw me like that, you being a fancy ninja and me well.. Just being a chef at some run down Ramen shop. I thought you would be interested in some bad ass ninja girl." At that Shika laughed and finally looked like he was fully engaged in the conversation. 

"No not at all. Yeah there are some cool "bad ass ninja girls" but none of them are as interesting as you. And why did you think I always went and ordered from where you work when you were working. It wasn't really a coincidence.." You chuckled and smiled lightly before seeing the time on your watch and sighing. 

"As much as I want to stay and continue talking I have to hurry home and take a quick nap before work.. But... Can I look forward to you eating there tonight..?" You smiled hopefully and he laughed and nodded back.

"Of course you can, I'll see you then (Y/n). Now go get some sleep." With that he leaned in and kissed you softly on the lips before turning and walking off to get lost in the crowd of shoppers on main street. You sighed lightly and held the tips of your fingers to your lips as you watched him leave. You could hardly believe that he liked you, or that he had just kissed you.

You had to have been the luckiest person in the world...
