Shang (From mulan) x reader!!!

Hey guys!! I️ apologize about taking so long to update... school and exams and bleeeeehhhhhh... anyway, I'm gonna make this short so I don't bore you with my author... ness...(wth) this was requested by Eunice199701 so shoutout to you!!! Ok I'm pretty sure I've cleared everything up so... on we gooo!!!

Your POV~
             ~y/n~. Y/n.  "Y/N!!"  I bolt up from my bed, a little too fast because I ended up getting a head rush.  I groaned and adjusted my eyes to see who had called my name. 

Realizing it was my mother, I greeted her. "Good morning mother" I yawned as I drowsily rubbed my eye. She just squealed in response. As she was having her little... whatever it was... in fact I've never seen my mother act like that before, she's usually so calm and conservative. Anyway as she was having her moment I just raised my eyebrow and continued my journey to the bathroom.

After brushing my teeth, hair, and doing my usual morning routine, I exit the bathroom in my silk bathrobe and continue to observe my mother. She quickly composed herself, taking a deep breath and doing a motion with her hands as if she's pushing her emotions away. "Y/n, I have very exciting news." I instantly perk up, always happy about good news for China. "Oh? And what would that be?" My mother smiles at me, "well, your at the age where you are able to wed (your gonna be around 18 or 20, so sorry if your not that age)  and I have just received a letter from the emperor of (just make it whatever, I'm too lazy to do research right now so I apologize) that his son want your hand in marriage!! Isn't that wonderful?!" She exclaims. 

        "WHAT?!" My mother looks startled by my tone of voice. "Y/n! A princess must not raise her voice! Especially at her mother!" Completely ignoring my mother's statement, " you can't agree to having me marry a guy I don't even know! He could be an absolute pig or jerk or... or... worst! 'Plus it's not helping that I have started growing feelings for Shang'" I argue. Well I obviously said the Shang part in my head but I'll get to that later. "Y/n..." my mother says in a serious and sympathetic voice. "... this is the best for China." She says. I look at her with an annoyed expression, "is it really the best for China? What could this marriage possibly do to benefit China? We already have ties with every other great nation around us! What would this marriage do?! Because right now our only enemy are the huns!!" I snap. "Y/n! You were trained for this!" She replies... "THIS IS NOT WHAT IVE BEEN TRAINED FOR... THERE WAS NEVER ANY MENTION OF A MARRIAGE ANY TIME ALONG MY LIFE! I WAS TRAINED TO RULE CHINA WITH MY FATHER!" I yell and stomp out of my quarters grabbing my f/c cloak on the way out.

I rush to the stables, quickly sending out a high pitched whistle as my horse, a white stallion named h/n(horse name), came galloping towards me. As he ran past me I grasped the saddle and flung myself over him and continued to ride away from the palace.

I rode out to the fields knowing that Shang would most likely be there, either training new recruits or just scouting. I have known Shang for a while, but he doesn't know that I am the princess.  We met when I ran out of the palace to explore, even though I wasn't aloud to, I just grabbed a cloak and rushed out before anyone could catch me.

Before I arrived at the fields I quickly draped the cloak over my body, drawing the hood up so that the shadow covers my face. I dismounted my horse and let it graze as I looked around until I spotted Shane getting ready for patrol. Jogging over to Shane I poke his left shoulder and run to his right side expecting him to be fooled but instead he looks straight at me.

"Aw man~ I really thought I was gonna get you with that one..." I said as my pout was covered up by my hood.

"Don't think you can fool me that easily~" he chuckled. "So what are you doing out here N/n?" He asked, calling me by my nickname since I won't give him my actual one... ya know gotta keep it a secret.
