Living with the enemy

Chapter One

"You and Charm did well out there!" My mum said to me, walking over to us. We had just finished our practice run of barrels. There was a rodeo on this weekend, and me and Charm have been entered. So we have been practicing our barrels. Mainy focusing on our turns as we go around. I gave Charm a bit pat on his neck. "Thanks mum." I said smiling. I hope of Charm and take him over the round pen. I tie him up. I unsaddle him, give him a quick hose down and turn him out to his paddock. I take my saddle, saddle cloth and bridle into the shed where we kept all out horse stuff. When I walk out, I quickly grab my boots. I like to take them up to my room because my pop, who has passed away, got them last year for my 14th birthday. It is late spring, so the days are warming up as we move into summer. It's only about 10ish and it already feels like 30 degrees. Worst thing is, it probably is 30 degrees. As soon I was inside, the cool air hits. My body relaxes a bit in the cool air. I go to my room and turn my air-con on. I put a pair of shorts and grab my phone of my bed. I walk over to my desk and sat down. I plug my phone in the charger so I can take some videos of riding this arvy. I hope onto my bed and grabbed my computer. I open up gmail and see what's new. Nothing there, so I thought I would have a peek at my mums, after all she did let me have so I can use it when ordering horse gear or jeans.. I open it. As usual, nothing new. But one email did catch my eye. I opend. In big letters at the top it said;

ONCE IN A LIFETIME HOLIDAY.

I was getting really excited, just by looking at the title. We are going on a holiday. Where are we going I wonder. As I read on, my head slowy sank at the words that had been typed up.

Dear Mrs Silver,

We are giving you a chance to go on a holiday of a lifetime. You are allowed to bring along one person, but they must be over the age 18. The holiday goes for the whole of summer holidays...

I couldn't read anymore. I didn't want to! I looked down at the reply section and, of course my mum had said yes. She also said she was going to take her husband, my father. They were going away for all of summer holidays with out me. When were they going to tell me? Where was I going to stay? Who was I going to stay with? Why are they going on a holiday without me? All these questions kept buzzing into my mind, but only mum and dad could answer them. I couldn't go and find answers as mum has gone to town and dad is at work. I close my computer and sit on my bed, thinking. Thinking where i will be staying. Thinking if mum and dad what's really going on this holiday. Mabey, just mabey, they changed there mind. I doubt it though.

It was now 2:00pm and mum just came inside. I walk out of my room to the kitchen. "Hello sweetie." Mum said to me, a big smile on her face. I didn't smile back. I didn't even say hello back, instead I asked "When were you going to tell me?" She looked at me. Her smile instantly disappears. "Tonight. How did you find out?" She asked me back. "I saw the email." Was all i simply said. I walk back to my room. I grabbed my phone and my hat. I walk out of my room, through the kitchen and outside. The heat instantly hits me and I was glad that I left my shorts on. I was only going to ride bare back, so I didn't see the need to buy jeans on. When I reach the gate to Charm's paddock, I grab the lead rope and climb over it. Charm came trotting up to me. I gave him a pat, then slipped the halter on. I went to his side and jumped up. Once I was on, I grabbed my phone out of my pocket and went on snapchat. I took a photo of Charm's neck, and posted it on snapchat. Then I quickly did my streaks. I loved doing my streaks while riding. It makes the photo seem full of life. After I did that. I took a couple of videos riding around the paddock. Then I hope of and Lead Charm over to where the barrels are. I tie him up while I set my phone up. When I have done that, I turn the video camera one and Hope back on Charm. I kicked him into a gallop. Left barrel first, around it. Right barrel next, around it we go. Center barrel next, we go around it and fly home. Once we got over the finish line, I slow Charm down while giving him pats and talking to him. I hope of and walk over to my phone I turn the camera of and turn my phone of. I lead Charm back over to his paddock. I put his rug on. Then I put him back out in the paddock. Then I went and feed all the horses.

It was now 5:00pm and I just finished feeding the horses. I walk inside. I didn't see mum or dad anywhere. I walk into the lounge room, to find mum and dad talking. When they heard me, They looked up. I gave them a little smile and mum returned it. "Hello." I said. "Hey." They both said. I sat down. "Sasha, we need to talk. About the summer holidays." Dad said. My smiles disappears. I had forgot about them going away. "I really don't care where you're going, I just want to know where I am staying and if Charm can go with me." I say to them. "OK then. Charm will be able to go with you, for sure." Mum says, giving me a smile. Then dad speaks. "You will be staying at Mr and Mrs Parker's." He says.
