The heat was more intense than earlier. They started to sweat a few moments of walking later. They sought shade under a big acacia tree, panting and leaning on the trunk.

"Look, a pond," Gigi said, standing up and pointing at a small body of water. "Let's drink for a while."

"You go first," Mart said, absolutely exhausted, though they hadn't walked very far yet.

Gigi walked to the pond, kneeling down. She saw her battle-scarred reflection, sighing, scooping up some water and drinking it.

Suddenly, three cows came up, rushing. Their footsteps sounded like a stampede and they were rushing right at Gigi! It was too late before she noticed this. She stood up, saw it, and before she can react the cows stopped suddenly, tossing her quite a distance away!

Gigi recovered quickly. Before she can even yell and curse the cows, she felt herself shaking. Was there an earthquake? She looked down, then screamed. She fell down a hole! She quickly disappeared out of sight, and the cows went away with stupid, forgetful expressions.
At first, the other four were casually enjoying the shade. But hearing a faint scream, they looked behind them. "That sounded like Gigi!" Lace shouted, quickly rushing to where he thought he heard the voice from.

The others followed, though all they saw was a pond and hectares of grass. No Gigi. Jack began to panic. "We can't lose her now! She survived creepers, and she can't survive this?! What mob would've taken her?!"

"We don't know for sure," Jace said, shuddering. "And that's what I'm afraid of."

Right beneath them, however, Gigi plopped right into a pool. It wasn't that deep, so she swam up easily. Once she could breathe, she realized it was pitch black, with sunlight streaming from the only hole above her. She used what little light available to reach the surface. There, she plopped down, wringing her wet hair and dress.

And then... "MOO."

Gigi looked behind her, eyes wide. Even thought it wasn't too bright, Gigi saw that it was just a brown cow. Gigi groaned.

"Now how, brown cow?"

Meanwhile, at the surface...

"There's no use, Jace, Lace. Wherever Gigi was brought to, I don't know," Jack said, feeling tears prick her eyes.

"No! We're not leaving until we find Gigi!" Jace and Lace said at the same time.

"Okay...maybe there's a hole in the ground?" Mart said, wiping the sweat on his forehead. "Maybe it's some secret lair passageway, or something like that. I find a lot of those in caves."

So they searched the ground. They looked at every inch to find a square hole. But little did they know, Mart's theory was correct, and the only problem was someone else sealed up the hole.

Right after she said, "Now how, brown cow?" a block covered the hole, leaving her in pitch black darkness. Someone closed the hole. She couldn't explain the fear. She screamed, causing the cow to moo randomly, while Gigi shivered in fear—and cold.

"There's gotta be a way out," she said to herself, standing up.

It was then she remembered she had miniature torches in her pocket. She took out two, imagining they were real torches. And true enough, they became real torches. She placed one on the floor since she didn't know if there's a wall nearby, and she saw the cow was staring at her, almost as if pleading—pleading for help.

Gigi took pity. She fed the cow a little wheat from her pocket, and from there she made sure the remaining wheat stuck out from her pocket. As long as it saw the wheat, the cow followed her around, waiting for her to patiently lift the wheat and place it to his lips.

Gigi smiled. "Guess we're stuck with each other...Brownie? Yeah, Brownie's a good name."

She went a little farther, where it was already too dark to see. She placed a torch along the wall not too far, and she saw that the cave itself was enormous.

She looked at Brownie. "Come on, Brownie! It's a long journey ahead..."

But above, her friends were worried sick. They didn't know what to do. Lace was pacing the floor. "Oh dung, where is Gigi?"

"Lace, Jace, let's be reasonable." Jack stood up. "There's no way Gigi could've been brought by any hostile mob to a hidden place—unless they teleport, making endermen real."

"There's a high chance that endermen are real," Mart piped in.

"Right...so unless that happens, we can conclude looking for Gigi is impossible, because our enemy must've been pretty powerful. Gigi can't be dead, if that's what you're worrying about, Jace. I have a gut feeling she's not too far."

"But how can we find her?" asked Lace.

Jack sighed, shrugging, plopping on the grass. She sun burned her skin, but she didn't mind it. She rummaged her pockets for miniatures, and then she frowned, realizing one of the miniatures was a book.

She pocketed the rest, then held the miniature book, imagining it was real. It rapidly enlarged, and she widened her eyes. SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST.

While the others were busy punching tree wood, Jack read it. It was a full guide on how to survive in the top ten biomes surrounding Peacepeople, all based on personal experience by skilled Peacepeople adventurers. The biome they were on—called Peaceful Plains Biome—had a cave underneath it, though it wasn't indicated where. It was said many people got trapped in it, some falling into holes scattered across Peaceful Plains.

But there was a Fun Fact at the corner of the page: the famous miner Dan had a house not too far from the Cane River. And he knew exactly where to find almost every cave in the area!

"Guys!" Jack stood up. "I'm so lucky I kept this book. We have to go to Cane River."

"Without Gigi?!" the twins burst.

"No! See, you know Dan, the famous miner? I had no idea he lived near here. And his house is near the Cane River. Change plans. We have to ask for his help to find Gigi, because based on this book, she most likely fell into a trap scattered around this area that led everyone to an underground cave. Dan would know where the entrance to that cave is!"

Jace and Lace looked at each other. Then Mart sighed. "But by then, wouldn't...something...have happened to Gigi already?"

Jack bit her lip. "Let's just hope for the best. Let's aim to reach the river before sunrise."
