I’ve always wondered what was up there. Who was up there? How do they live up there? What do they eat up there? Will I ever go up there? Would my parents let me go up there after what happened? After being down here in the ocean for so long, would they let me?
I thought back to when I was last on surface. My parents went out to eat dinner for their anniversary. I was home alone and I was just about to finish my homework when I heard a noise. It was coming from behind the curtain doors in the living room. When I went over I opened it up and there was a person. He covered my mouth with a towel and I think it had some kind of chemical on it. I kicked him in the no no area and ran away. He caught up to me and slapped me across the face. By now he had a good grip on me and I couldn’t escape. I saw that my best friend/neighbor Michael was now running over to me. I saw him tackling him on the ground and that’s the last thing I remembered until everything went black. After that we moved down here in the ocean and I’ve never been on land since then.
My mom called me down for dinner which took me out of my thoughts. It was completely silent until finally my mom spoke up.
“Lynn, Dad and I are going to get some more air for our tubes.”
“I put some money in an envelope over by the tv in the living room. Don’t do anything bad when we're gone, understood?”
“Yes, mom.”
“Good we’ll see you in a couple days , love you bye!”
“Bye, Mom! Bye, Dad!”
They finally left and I ran upstairs into my secret room I have that nobody knows about. I grabbed my bag that’s been packed for months now but I finally have the chance to use it. I can finally go back up there. After years of being stuck down here, I can go up again. The only thing is I only have a couple days to do so. I was about to walk out the door when I forgot something. My locket.
My best friend Michael was the one who gave it to me. He gave it to me on my bday a couple days before we came here. The only thing is that, that was years ago and I don’t even remember what he looks like.
I got out of my thoughts again remembering I need to get moving. I grabbed the locket and put it around my neck and walked out the door. I saw the rope ladder that led up top to the land. I went over and started climbing it. Then I looked up and saw everything.
I saw people again. People walking, driving, eating, talking and more! On the sides of the streets there were people dancing, singing, painting, acting, anything you could think of! It felt so magical being up here again, seeing things I thought I would’ve never seen again.
I walked around a little bit and started to get hungry. I looked around and found a hot dog stand near by and got out a couple dollars out of my bag. I decided since I’m only going to be up here for a couple days I would go buy myself a camera. That way can I can always remember this weekend no matter what by just looking back at the photos. I found a store that was selling them and was trying to find one not too pricey. I only had about a couple hundred dollars but I’m suppose to spend it wisely and I’ll need some for food. I found a camera and it was only $150. I bought it and made my way back onto my journey. I was having a great time exploring when I heard someone call my name. It was Michael.
He came over to me and I was shocked on how much he has changed in these last couple years.
“Hey Lynn! I can’t believe you're finally back, I thought I would never see you again.”
“Yea me too.”
We got caught up with each other and he said I could stay at his place for the weekend. We got into a cab and he spoke up to give the cab driver his address.
“To red cherry hotel please.”
“Yes, sir” the cab driver said. I smiled at michael but then I froze
“Lynn what's wrong?” Michael asked.
“Its him” I said.
