Sadness is a slow fire that burns from the inside out
Crackling embers silently absorb all that is safe within
And before you know it, all has been consumed by flame.
Heat that slowly creeps into the hearts corners
Lighting your eyes a dark amber
A somber glow, softly shading all that is around
A comforting but unwelcome feeling, as the heat burns from the expanse of veins that twist and coil inside you
Seemingly choking you, an invisible grip...expertly hidden by the subtle tilting of your lips.
And just as suddenly as it came, the fire dies out.
Slowly but surely, all that remain are scattered ashes
Calmly drifting away in the cool night breeze...
