birthday boy

Author's note: I know I'm a few weeka too late with this oneshot, but I'm thankful that my inspiration decided to come back at all. I haven't written anything in ages and I was kinda insecure about publishing this but a few lovely tumblr users encouraged me so yeah hope you like this heh

"Hey."
Ellington was sitting outside on the edge of the bridge with his shoes almost touching the water of the lake that was reflecting the brightly shining full moon in the sky. He hadn't sat there for too long, but long enough for his head to stop hurting and his lungs to become completely filled with fresh air. He really wasn't a party person, that was for sure.
"Oh, hi. Whatcha doin' here, Rock?"
"Mhm, nothing much. I was- eh, was just looking for you."
Ellington's best friend, Rocky Lynch, was standing on the bridge right behind him, the moon putting his face into a pale light. His thick eyebrows were raised, as if he didn't believe what he was saying himself, his hazel-ish brown eyes were sparkling with the reflection of the water and his full lips were pressed together after he stopped talking. His hair lay on his neck, chocolate-y brown and messy. He's gorgeous, thought Ellington. So incredibly gorgeous. I'd give so much to be able to touch him wherever I wish. He was kind of scared and surprised by his own thoughts, but imagined running his fingers through that soft hair, gently massaging the skin of his head, as Rocky closed his eyes and opened his mouth slightly in pleasure. But now was not the time for daydreams, because the mouth really was open, open, because Rocky was talking.
"S'cuse me? Didn't really understand you, man." He grinned cheekily and looked up to find that the younger boy was chuckling.
"I was wondering why you'd left that great party. You're the birthday boy, after all."
"Yeah," Ellington pressed his lips together, "I know, I just wasn't really feelin' it 'nymore. It's a great party, really, but nothin' for me."
"Got it," Rocky responded, nodding his head in understanding. "Maybe we could drive over to yours and just chill, watch a movie or somethin'? If you wanna, of course."
"Yeah, sure, that'd be nice."
Rocky held his hand out to reach for the drummer, as he took it and got up from the cold wood of the bridge. They walked over to Ellington's car that was parked about three miles away in a parking lot next to a black Volkswagen and he searched for the car keys in the pockets of his jeans.
The ride was completely silent, until Ell decided to break it by turning on the radio and the news came on, but neither of them actually listened. The driver was thinking about his very interesting daydream earlier (he was still in confusion about these, even though he had had way wilder ones recently) and Rocky was looking out of the window, with whatever different thoughts on his mind.
As Ratliff stopped the car, Rocky un-buckled his belt first and opened the car door to get on the outside. He felt a bit dizzy from the alcohol he had drunk at the party that was supposed to encourage him to do what he has meant to do for so long, so he didn't notice losing balance, until he felt his mate's body beside his and his arms supporting his biceps.
