I sat against a tree in the forest at the park a few blocks away from my house. I leaned against the tree and pulled out by book of the week. It was a romance about a girl and a werewolf. As I read along no matter what this poor wolf-boy did for this girl she refused him. I shut the book frustrated, because the bark of the tree was digging into my back and bugs were walking all over me. I wanted to try something new by reading in the woods. People always say how comforting it was but it wasn't doing it for me. I guess I'm just not an outdoorsy person.
As I walked through the woods to get home I pondered why anyone would turn down a werewolf they are like the epitome of eternal love but these girls are so stupid turning them down because they want the guy to 'earn' their love. If I was to ever come across a werewolf who claimed I was his mate I wouldn't doubt it for a second.
This doesn't mean that I would magically forget about my insecurities. I liked everything about myself except for the fact that I'm a bit chubby and no I'm not one of those girls who has the perfect body and just hates herself. My doctor constantly reminds me to watch my weight because I'm on a 'dangerously unhealthy track' I've tried to lose weight and I have lost some but I can never stick to my diets after a month.
I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't realize that instead of walking home I had started to wander in an unknown direction. The sun was going to go down in a few hours. I pulled out my phone to activate my GPS only to realize I have no signal.
I decided my best way home was to about face and walk in what was hopefully the direction I came from. Walking I stumbled upon a hill and knew that wherever I was it wasn't where I was supposed to be. I climbed up the hill hoping to get a better view of my surroundings.
Once I reached the top of the hill I heard growling and yelps. I peaked over the bushes that sounds were coming from and saw two oversized wolves (one grey one black) fighting, although it may have just been rough housing in an animalistic way.
Not wanting to be part of the six o'clock news I started to back away. On my first backwards step my stomach growled wildly. Curse my meal skipping. Both wolves stopped and looked in my direction but not directly at me because I was mostly hidden by the brush they then sniffed and started to inch towards me.
Not waiting for them to come any closer I walked backwards quickly and quietly keeping an eye on the wolves I dragged my feet so I couldn't step on any branches. When I bumped into a tree I quickly turned around and ran as fast as I could (Which turned out to not be very fast since the most exercise I had was walking from place to place occasionally).
I was running out of breath and I couldn't hear footsteps behind me. Just as I started to slow, the grey wolf jumped out in front of me, I quickly stopped all movement but my feet kept sliding so I landed painfully on my butt. I hissed in pain and tears started welling up in my eyes as the wolf approached me with a predatory glint in his eyes.
I started crab walking backwards only to bump into the second wolf that was jet black. Who wasn't growling, just watching me. I let out a whimper and jumped up quickly, slowly backing away holding up my hands in surrender to hopefully show the animals I was no harm.
I backed myself into a tree and the grey wolf snarled at me and I let my tears fall. This is how I was going to die I pitifully thought to myself. The grey wolf took a step towards me but the black one growled at it. They growled at each other back and forth like a conversation then the grey one looked at me once more and walked away.
