"How could you?!" My mother cried.

"W-what?" I asked.

"Joining the REBELS?! T-The WILD ONES?! Are you fucking stupid or what?!"

"Mom!"

"Katrina! F.E.A.R. will do anything and everything he can to kill you! Why do you always have to be involved in a battle? You will die out there!"

"I want to fight for justice." I replied.

"Why couldn't you just be a maiden and marry Tyler? It's much safer."

"Why can't we choose whom we love?" I asked. "Why can't we choose what we want to do? Be who we want to be? Why?"

"I just want to protect you."

"Mom." I felt my eyes tear up as I place my hands on her shoulders, trying to calm her. "I'm seventeen years old. Eighteen in a few weeks. I'm an adult. It's time I make my own decisions." I replied.

My mom's tears were streaming down her face. "Are you sure this is what you want? No matter what, I will always love you, but if you aren't one hundred percent sure, I want you to know there are other options."

I nodded. "Yes. I want to end F.E.A.R."

She gave me a hug and started crying, as did I. I never knew if I could handle missing mom, but I never wanted to be some housewife. I wanted to save the world. I wanted F.E.A.R.'s reign to end. For good.

Forever.

And if I have to die for it, I will.
