Call me Ghost.
Cunning, sneaky, meticulous and always, always careful with any assignments given. Detached, apathetic and disloyal to any of my targets. But this is merely a cover-up for the real me. I try not to get too involved when completing my assignments since I was trained at a very young age to work in the espionage world. I was trained well. In the end, I was good enough to be the left one standing. I have learned to be less human in order to survive all these years without the love that is shared in a family. Don't get me wrong: I had to learn how to kill in order to stay alive and not get caught being a double agent. From day one he made his mission to teach me how to fight and lie. However, he was quite different from the Boss in one way specifically, he knew the real me while the boss knew the Ghost.
At the time of my training, I was too young to fully understand the purpose of learning how to kill and lie if not to help solely him, instead he wanted me to work for the Boss. He had a name as well, for secrecy his name was James.
James wanted me to work for the Boss in order to learn about his plans and targets. But most of all, James wanted me to keep her safe. In order to do that he taught me: at the age of 10 to run and hide; at the age of 11 to disable an attacker and engage in a hand-to-hand combat; at the age of 12 to throw knives and to shoot with a Walther PPK. However, the Boss has never found out that I was spying on him. And I intended on keeping it that way. At least until Anna was secured and no enemy was after her. There was a new assignment for me that involved her. The Boss requested for me to investigate, follow, and capture the new target: Anna Blackwood. Three years ago he moved to San Diego because he knew she was living there. For 17 years he could have killed her, but he didn't, just because he knew someday she could lead to his main target: John Blackwood.
But now he had a new lead, she received a letter that would lead to John and the Boss wanted me to follow Anna. He requested my presence at his office to further discuss Anna's whereabouts.
"Well?" He questioned without hesitation.
"She is on her way to Paris," I replied.
"When did she leave? And with whom?" He leaned forward on his desk, hands clasped together. He seemed impatient.
"An hour ago, with her dog."
"Good," he leaned back, looked towards the window and then back at me "you will be going on our private jet, I will be sending Snake to go with you."
"Sir with all due respect, I don't think it will be--" he didn't even let me finish and spoke with an angry tone in return.
"This was not a request, but a command. We are done here Ghost." I nodded and exited his office.
Snake was the worst of all these people I had to work with, he had one life-long mission and that was to make my life miserable till my last breath. Apart from being the second best spy, he was very smart, malicious, ruthless, strong and quick. And he was just what could bring this mission to a drastic end. If he were to find out that I was working for James, it would be the end for the Blackwood and myself included. I would need to be extra careful around him.
I took my duffel bag that consisted of my guns such as Walther PPK, knives, as well as necessary ammunition, phone, two different sim cards, my fake passport, money and credit card. I also had to bring in a set of my clothes some which were needed for when I would be working in secrecy. The work clothes were mainly black, they consisted of a black leather jacket, a few black pair of pants and a few black bottleneck long-sleeved tops. I was, however, wearing a light beige Burberry trench coat, raspberry-colored sweater with dark Lewis jeans and brown tied up boots.
I took my duffel bag and left for the airport. Once I arrived at the airplane, Snake was already inside waiting for my presence while sipping off some whiskey.
"Well, well, well, if it isn't the so-called Ghost," he emphasized the "st" sound, smiled sarcastically, gestured his drink up high and then gulped the remaining of the whiskey before he stood up and walked towards me, "what a pleasure it is to have his presence."
"Two rules, listen carefully there are no do-overs. Rule one, there is absolutely no need to fully engage in a conversation with me, silence is better than your loudspeakers. Two: Boss put me as the leader of this case, which means that you are under my authority; which means that you get to follow my order without questioning it; which means that you are nothing and will continue to be nothing in this case. Clear?"
"Crystal," he smirked and patted me on my back then returned to his previous seat before he looked up at me and said, "I like the attitude, but it is better to drop it. We both know that you and I are the same. We both want to find and destroy the sunlights. Or has that changed for you?"
I totally ignored his remark and took my seat facing him, "Alright no time for this butterfly, read her file!"
He opens up a file with all the information about her, all of which I knew about more than he could possibly think of, "Female, recently turned 18, 5'7, blue eyes, light complexion, well- built model-like body, a sweet looking ass," he threw the file on the desk and pictures of Anna walking out from her apartment with a beautiful crimson red velvet dress were scattered across the table. "I mean c'mon Ghost do you think Boss will let us keep her for one sweet night before she is killed?"
I know he is teasing me but I replied nonchalantly with a "Maybe," and smiled. "But don't forget the main purpose of this mission, to follow Anna Blackwood till we get to John Blackwood and bring both in for Boss."
"Right, but until then we shall have some fun...Actually talking about fun, Linda asked about you. Your girl can be demanding, she said she was going to hunt you down if you didn't answer her phone calls. I gotta say, she is a pretty crazy woman for someone so young."
Her name made me flinch, I was done with her and all these years that she made my life a living hell. She was the closest thing to being called a family to the Boss, therefore, I got closer to her in order to get closer to him. Let's just say it was not pretty when I had to break up with her. I was already close to him and too good to be repressed to the lowest position in the whole corporation. In fact, I was not a good spy-- but the best. Never missed completing any of my missions, which meant that it would not be now that the Boss would let me off.
"Talking about the devil, it is her."
"Ghost, finally you picked up the godamn phone I guess my message reached you." I looked at Snake and he was smirking, he could hear her since she spoke so loudly.
"What do you want Linda."
"Is that even a question? Don't act silly around me Ghost, you know I want you."
"Linda we are over, how many times do I need to repeat it till you understand it?"
"You keep on saying that but we both know it is not true, just wait till you see what I have in store for you," I could sense her smirk on the other side of the phone and she hung up before I could say anything.
"Someone is in trouble," Snake made a remark but I simply ignored and went to sleep. It was going to be a long ride, a very long one.
