Gigi went around the cave, Brownie by her side, following her. She placed one torch at a time to save her torches, and along the way discovered huge lumps of coal. Quickly she looked for her miniature stone pickaxe, and got ready to mine it.
"I've been at this forever," Gigi complained. She hit the coal block with her pickaxe a few times, but when she sees it not cracking, she stops to complain. She got frustrated and tired, so she sat down, panting. She wished she could go back to the pool and drink, but: ONE, she was too tired to go back, and TWO, it was waaay too far now.
"You have to hit the coal as long as you can."
Gigi jumped to her feet, looking around. "Who's there?"
"It's I, the cow you call Brownie."
Gigi looked at the cow. The stupid crossed eyes on its face were gone. It was looking straight at her. Gigi gulped, backing up. "I really am dehydrated. I need to drink Brownie..."
"You're not." The cow's lips moved.
Gigi shrieked. "OH MY NOTCH FORGIVE ME FOR SAYING THIS BUT I AM CLUCKING CRAZY! AAGH CRAZY COWS! HEEEEELP!"
The cow rolled its eyes. "If you'll calm down, miss, I can give you more specific instructions on how to mine probably. You're obviously new to mining. But for now, I'll let you calm down."

"Hey look, a sheep," said Lace lamely.
Mart lazily stuck his sword in it. It bleated as blood oozed while the sword got removed, but a little later it dropped flat, vanishing into smoke. While this gory incident happened, Jack looked away, pretending she was examining the sky.
"What are those?" Jace asked.
Jack looked at where Jace looked. Colorful, glowing little spheres—(oh wait, what the heck is a sphere again? Haha...)—stayed in place of the sheep, and it slowly crept up before vanishing on Mart's feet.
"Experience Points," Mart said casually. "It's the first time I received some in a while...I feel so strong by it. Usually, all the Experience Points I collect go directly to the mayor."
Jack frowned. "Why?"
"Long story. All you've gotta know is that Experience Points come from killing animals, creatures, and from mining."
"I've never encountered that before—Dad's a farmer, not an animal tender. But if that's so," Jack said, "how come the cow you killed earlier didn't drop Experience Points?"
Mart frowned. "That I don't know."
"How much longer before we reach the Cane River?" Jace said suddenly.
Jack sighed. "We don't know. We never left Peacepeople, remember?"
"But Sir Mart already left Peacepeople, right, sir?" Lace added.
Mart sighed. "I don't know. I've only been to a cave, remember?"
Jack stopped walking, realizing what Mart just said. "Cave? Sir Mart, is it possible that that cave is connected to the one underneath Peaceful Plains?"
"I doubt it. It's very small, and all its chambers go directly down, not spread out. It means you have to dig a lot through the walls just to find this other cave."
Jack sighed, walking, losing hope a little bit. But she remained determined. They continued walking down the huge empty plains. Along the way she picked up flowers, to which the boys rolled their eyes.
As they continued walking, Mart tripped on his own foot. He fell on Jace, who fell on Lace, who grabbed Jack's shirt to balance himself, making them all fall on top of each other.
