"Samy, I don't think I like it..." I giggle as I look at my younger brother.

"You don't have to you butt, it's my hair!" I push lim on my bed before standing up and looking at my new hair in my body length mirror. I'm still wearing my gym clothes, but my hair is completely different. my naturally black hair was bleached and dyed a dark blue. There's also a little less than a foot missing from my hair, it now can just barely touch my shoulders.

"THINK FAST!" I tense up before almost falling with the sudden wait of my brother on my back. I laugh as I fall on my bed and wiggle till he lets go. I scream as I tickle him, him screaming back. I stop just to hear the front door open.

"Hey mom, welcome home!" I wink at Tristan and he giggles.

My heart drops when I hear not my mother's voice, but the sound of heavy boots running across the house. I shove Tristan as far as I can from my door and shut it as quick as I can. I don't need to be quite, they already know i'm here, but not wear i am. I prop my matris up and grab my pistol my mom agreed i could have for times like this. I point to Tristan, then at the ground. a tear falls out of his eyes when he sees the pistol, but he gets down anyway, no words said. even though he's seven he's very smart. I- I never knew what to do when the time came, and now is no different. I'm just standing here knock kneed with a pistol rattling in my hands. I take a deep breath in and look at Tristan. he's so young, he can't see this.. I have to-... what can I do, I'm only 16!

"RUN!!!!!" That was mom! Tristan's face pops up with the sound of mom's voice. I grab Tristan's hand and bolt to the back door, where mom was heard.

"Janet, you remember our deal right? don't tell me you've forgotten?" When we reach my mom she looks like she's been crying for days, yet we just saw her this morning, and the ends of her clothes are singed off, along with one shiny streak of blood in her dark blond hair. My heart weeps for her as we reach her. Only then did I remember my pistol.

"N-NOO!! I'm- I can't!!! I'm so sorry but NO!!" She shakes her head vigorously and tears flinging from her face. I feel so useless.. I want my gun back.. I hear a "tick  tick tick" from around the kitchen- so he's getting closer to us... I have to shake my mom to get her attention back onto me.
"Mom, MOM! Remember the pistol?" She looks tariffed and starts to shake her head, but I continue.
" I dropped it on my way here- and I'm going to get it, stay here!" I rip Tristan off my leg and put him on hers. Her hand falls to his head. She seems confused, but she lets me go. I run back to my room, slowly pick up my gun, and bolt back to them. When I round the corner I see.... nothing, where are they?? Then I see them outside, Tristan waving me over. Something seems wrong, there to happy..  I run to them while watching my back, but as soon as I'm out of the house the back door shuts with a bang. I flip over to see my mom and Tristan looking at me, but with different expressions. Tristan's face was carved with fear and confusion, while my mom's held only silent love in her shaky body. I look back and see that the illusion I was looking at outside is now gone, why did she do that to me? How could she do that to me? I lean my hands and forehead on the glass. One of Tristan's hands is on mine, the other hand is parallel to my mom's. A lone tear falls from both mine and my mothers eyes, the tears silently calling out for each other. Suddenly I'm hit with panic and I grab my pistol and bang the butt of the gun on the glass, trying to break it. Reliantly, I remember a conversation I had with my mom about getting bulletproof glass to replace all our old glass. I bang my head back on the window and slowly fall to my knees.
What felt like only seconds later my eyes eye flushed with red and my ears rang. When I come to my house is on fire, and I was shot back a few meters. I'm aware enough to see my house collapse before my head collides with the ground once more.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" I bolt up in bed and fall on the floor.
"Hey, what happened?" Nate pops his head out of the bathroom, toothbrush in mouth.
"Ehh... nothing- just that stupid dream again..." I rub my head as I get up, slowly standing up.
It's been three years since the accident, and I moved across country, got a cabin   On the edge of the woods and a street that leads to my favorite breakfast restaurant.
"Oh, by the way I think it's going to be another overnight at the station, so I'll leave a little later then normal so I can see you." He spits his toothpaste out and walks over to me. I meet him only a few months into being here, he helped me get the house we live in now, I was living around in hotels and stuff beforehand. Thats actually how we met, I was arguing with the hotel attendant about money, and I lost. He heard the fight and offered me to stay with him.
Nate put his hands around my waist and I kiss him. He pushes me on the bed and I roll away giggling.
"You can't get you're clothes dirty, I'll go make breakfast" I smirk as I see his head hit the pillow in defeat. As I walk to the kitchen I take off my night shirt and put on my black and sky blue apron witch didn't match my coral colored bra at all. I hum as I get the eggs out of the fridge, the pan out of the cupboard, the bread from the counter, and the pam from over the sink. I turn on the stove and pun the pan on the stove. Then I put two pieces of bread in the toaster and spray the pan with pam. I crack and scramble two eggs as I put pandora on my phone. I giggle as Bruno Mars's Grenade comes on.
"BUT IDE CATCH A GRENADE FOR YA' THROW MY HEAD ON A BLADE FOR YA' IDE JUMP IN FRONT OF A TRAIN FOR YA'" I'm tired by the time the song ends, and I pop the eggs in the toast and onto a plate. I turn around and I see Nate giggling in his bar table.
"I'm so glad I meet you- no other girl ever would be as amazing as you" I feel a ping of gilt as I smile back.
"Okay, you keep praying to me and I'll stay." He rolls his eyes and moans as he eats, but I stop him from saying any more with his mouth full. I giggle as he shoves the food in his mouth, smirking and winking all the wile.
When he finally finished I took his dish and looked at the clock.
"Nate, you should get to work.." I say, almost desperate for him to leave. My heart beats faster as he stairs at me with a black face, this is his face of questioning, when he's thinking hard did face goes black like this. I look deep into his eyes, trying not to be intimidated- but I feel my skin buzzing anyway.
"Okay, I'll go.. you have a good day hun- see you sometime tomorrow." He coerces my shoulder before picking up his bag and leaving. I watch his car leave through the window as I pull on my earlobe.
Damn it's hard to date a detective..
