We came home late that night hyped on sugar. We walked in the house making too much noise it was surprising no one woke up. We decided to watch a movie until we were tired.

"I'll be back." Kian said and ran upstairs.

I looked through the stack of movies that Sam bought. I grabbed Ride Along and put it in the dvd player.

Kian came down with a stack of blankets and pillows.

"Help me." He handed me one side of the blanket to help him lay it down.

He grabbed one more to make it comfier and then put pillows against the couch.

"Here's your blanket." He handed me a purple blanket with zig zags on it.

"So what movie did you choose?" He asked.

"Ride Along." I answered.

"Oh I heard it's hilarious." He smiled and got under his blanket.

We weren't far into the movie when we finally fell asleep. After a lot of giggling it felt nice to relax.

{JAMIE'S POV}

I woke up before anyone else the next morning. I decided I would start breakfast so I headed downstairs. I saw something purple on the floor by the t.v. so I went to see what it was.

I peeked my head over a little and saw Kian and Avery on the floor together. Kian was facing the ceiling and Avery was facing Kian with her arms wrapped around him. Now that I think about it....they were out last night doing who knows what?!

I ignored the fact that Avery was cuddled up next to Kian and continued on with breakfast.

I searched through the fridge trying to find some things I could use. I grabbed the basics such as bacon, bread, eggs, pancake mix, and some orange juice. I trembled through each shelf, cabinet, and drawer to grab some, bowls, pans, and spoons. I struggled to get the pan out causing me to wake up Avery.

{AVERY'S POV}

"What are you doing?" I walked towards Jamie feeling a little dizzy.

"Making breakfast but since you're up you can help." She handed me the carton of eggs and a bowl.

"O-kay..." I responded.

"So you want to tell me what that was all about? You and Kian laying a little close? Where were you last night?-" She interrogated.

"Jamie!"

"Would you give it up?" I asked and grabbed a water bottle.

"What?"

"Don't act stupid. The whole me liking Kian thing it's never going to happen." I stated and took a sip.

"Well where were you?" She asked once again.

"The pier."

"Why were you guys sleeping down here together?"

"We got home late and weren't that tired so we turned on a movie. Anything else you want to add?" I questioned.

"No i'm good." She relaxed her shoulders a bit.

"Wait so when you said it's never going to happen-" I cut her off.

"Jamie.." I paused.

"What i'm just asking is if what you're saying is that you will never make it to a relationship with him?" She continued on.

"No. I mean he's a great guy and any girl would be lucky to have him but-" I sighed.

"It will never be us. Friends only and no jeopardizing that." I made my statement clear.

{KIAN'S POV}

I heard every word. The 'where were you last night?' to the 'it's never going to happen'. It was heartbreaking but it was the reality. I'm just not sure if i'm ready to accept that.

I got up off the ground and walked to the kitchen.

"Morning." Avery greeted.

"Yup." I made a glass of orange juice and walked upstairs.

"That was weird." I heard her echo.

"Do you think he heard us?" Jamie responded.

"No." Avery doubted.

I took a shower and sat in my room listening to music and messing around with a basketball with my door shut. The only other sounds besides the music was conversation, walking, and the ocean waves. The sound of the waves was calming but not calming enough. I heard a sudden knock on the door.

"Who is it?" I asked from the inside.

"Sam. I hope you're decent cause i'm coming in." He shouted.

I set the basketball by my side and looked over in his direction.

"You ok?" He chuckled.

"Yeah why?" I retorted.

"Dude it's three and I haven't seen you all day." He stated.

"You have to do something." He added.

I realized I had Melissa's number.

"Got it. Oh and shut the door behind you." I shooed him out.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket and started dialing the number.

"Hello?" I hear a uptight voice through the phone.

"Hey! Is this Melissa?" I responded.

"Yeah! Who's this?"

"Kian. The guy from the pier."

"I was hoping you would call me." Her voice a little calmer now.

"Yeah. Hey so I was wondering if you want to do lunch around 4ish?"

"Sounds good. Meet you by the beach?"

"Yeah." I hung up and smiled.

I walked downstairs and lounged on the couch. No one was around but Avery.

"Where did they go?" I picked up a tennis ball and bounced it against the wall.

"A walk." She pronounced.

"What's wrong with you? You haven't been talking to me." She put in addition.

"Bet you could guess." I answered.

"Uh no I can't! Kian why are you mad at me?!" She snapped.

"Who said I was?" I was being ignorant.

"Cut the shit Kian!" She barked.

I got up from the couch and started to walk away.

"Where are you going?!" She said.

"I have a date with the girl from the pier." I said.

"Melissa? She seems like a bitch." She took a bite of her apple.

"That's just it Avery! You're an insensitive bitch just like always!" I shouted.

"Excuse me?" She said in disgust.

"I can't put up with you Avery! I heard your entire conversation with Jamie this morning." I admitted.

"You're mad because I won't go out with you?" She keeps interrogating.

"Forget it." I started walking away.

"Kian!" She chased after me.

"Wh-" I turned around and was cut off when our lips touched.

Her hands flowing through my hair. Her cheeks were cupped in my hands when I could feel her smile.

"Don't leave." Her breath against mine.
