Blood curdling screams echoed throughout the vast kingdom of Kohana in the early hours of what was was supposed to be an ordinary day. The once breezy air now clouded in black smoke and mystery. Lifeless bodies of civilians and warriors alike littered the open streets, some recognizable, other not. Flames engulfed entire home and shops throughout what was once considered the most thriving village that ever stood in the western lands.

Toward the North end of the city lied Shogun Palace, a famous landmark through the country and also the home of the royal Haruno family. The first King of the country had possessed great power to reign over the lands and the mass of other demons who lived there, along with a great king there were great supporters which formed a society which grew into a nation.

A proud standing nation.

"Sasuke..." There was a serious tone in the young mans voice.

"What is it, big brother?"

There was nothing said between the two for a few moments, nothing could be heard but the sound of a females screams. Sasuke, still a child, looked up at his older brother, Itachi, with wide eyes. Itachi tried his best to shoot a smile in the young ones direction but couldn't fully push down the over growing concern that persisted deep in his belly.

Handing a small, pink blanket to the young child, Itachi then took his two fingers and placed them on the forehead of his beloved little brother, he could feel a prick of sorrow in his heart. Once again, neither one of them spoke; they didn't have to. There was an unannounced bond the two of them had always shared. With one quick motion Itachi took the young hand next to him and began to make their way through the halls of the Shogun royal palace with the intent of escape.

With the stillness of the night and casted moonlight shadows the two siblings made it through the once enchanting mansion halls all the way to the back courtyard before any sight of the enemy. The courtyard was open; it was once portrayed as the most beautiful area throughout the entire castle. What was once a peaceful place was now utterly disturbed. The scent of burning wood and flesh lingered in the air.

Throwing out his hand in one swift motion, Itachi stopped Sasuke dead in his tracks—it was the enemy. A dark and looming figure stood in front of both of the boy, arms crossed over his chest in a dawning stance. There was a mask placed over his face, it seemed to be in the shape of a rabbit but Sasuke wasn't able to see the opponents true face.

"There was not a doubt in my mind that you would come this way, Itachi."

The voice of the male who spoke was deep and sinister with almost a snake-like slither to it, in fact this sent shivers down youngest Uchiha's spine. Taking a tiny step back, he clutched on the small pink blanket in his hands, unwilling to let it go. Noticing this, the longhaired raven slowly unsheathed the katana strapped to his back, angling it over his shoulder and in front of Sasuke.

"Sasuke," Itachi's cool voice broke the tense silence "Run."

~Sakura's P.O.V.~

It was about 7:57a.m. when I walked into Mr. Senju's chemistry class, the day had just begun but I could already feel myself shutting back down. I pulled out the dark green plastic chair listening to the rubber squeak against the tile and took my seat next to a cheerful blonde. It didn't take her long to realize my presence before she turned to me and spoke with her normally chipper tone;

"Sakura, good morning."

"Good morning, Shion."

I did nothing but stare out of the classroom window from the second floor out into the brightening sky. It wasn't rare for Shion to talk to me, we were lab partners after all but I could never shake this feeling that I had when I was around her, the feeling that she didn't want to be near me. Truthfully, that's how it was with most people, anyway. But the thoughts soon scattered from my head when Mr. Senju walked though the classroom doors just seconds before the first bell rang.
