Jordan Vermeire -April 18th, 2014 - Ramstein, Germany

"Time to wake up Jordan!" My Mother chirps at my door. Sighing, I stretch my arms and legs out very similiar to how a cat does and sit up. I rub my eyes and push hair out of my face, looking at her. "Morning Mom." She kisses my forehead. "Have a good day and get your work turned in."

Nodding sleepily, I get up as she walks out and grab a random clean shirt, pulling that and blue jeans on. I brush my hair, close my door and go back to bed for another half hour, just enough time left before school so I can do my hair. I was aware that I have been getting more and more tired lately, though I did not understand why.

Sooner than I'd like, my alarm goes off signaling it is time for me to actually wake up. I slink out of bed and put my bag together with the days work and textbooks I'll need. Turning on my phone to check the time, I see that I have several messages from friends. I'll answer them later.

I drag my feet to the bathroom where my flat-iron is already heated up thanks to my little sister. I quickly straighten my hair and brush my teeth before kenneling my dogs, grabbing my things and running down the stairs. As I pass the 1st floors balcony, I notice Mrs. Grimswald is acting a bit stranger than usual.

She stands on her balcony in her light purple fuzzy robes, watering her flowers though no water comes out of the watering can. She stands there, staring forward without seeing. Slowly, her head turns to look at me and I nod politely, turning on my heel to walk to school. Her eyes never leave me as I walk. The day goes by with the usual order.

I talked to Adam the whole ROTC class, laughing occasionally when the teacher makes a joke. Finally class ends and I start walking to English. I pass my friend Noah and nod in greeting as I turn a corner and nearly run head first into someone. They look down at me with the same blank stare Mrs. Grimswald had. Muttering sorry, I pass them, looking back and frowning.

What is with everyone this morning? I turn into F Hallway and walk down to Mr. Tarnowski's room, ducking as he pretends to hit me. I smile and laugh, taking my seat and turning to talk to Spencer. As usual, I grab my book and set a book on Keegan's desk in case he's in class today. Sighing as the class begins, I listen to the teachers lecture. He goes over "To Build a Fire" by Jack Landon and I pull out the 5th Harry Potter book.

I had already finished the notes for the stories so I start reading something much more interesting. I hear bits and pieces of his lecture as the class goes on. Near the middle of class, he finally realizes my silence and scolds me.

"Jordan if you don't put that book down then I'll burn it and make you eat the ashes." I smile sheepishly and reluctantly put the book back in my bag, wishing I could continue with it. When I look back up, Mr. T is staring out the window. We all look over but don't see what he's looking at. Slowly he makes his way to it and looks out.

He doesn't give us a second to react as he crosses the room, closes the door and turns to us. "We're leaving. Don't worry about your things you won't need them. Tyler stop acting like an idiot. Jesse wake up, come on up everyone. Stay in a line and follow me. Watch your sides and be careful." Confused we all follow him out the door. We whisper quietly, trying to figure out whats going on as our teacher goes from room to room in F Hallway telling everyone what he told us.

It must be something the adults all know because the teachers don't look even a bit surprised. They all lead their students out and begin passing the word among the nearby Hallways. As we near the end of the hall, we hear a scream in the back and blood splashes across the wall at the back of the hall. Screams follow and people start pushing forward frantically. I can't see what's going on, just a flurry of bodies around me as everyone tries to get away. And then I see it.
