Ahh, how nice it truly was to have a normal day. The city was in shambles, the angels were at war again, and of course the young earl of Phantomhive, Ciel, was stuck in the middle of it all. Sad to say that IS a normal day in house Phantomhive, but for some reason there was no trouble going on, which most would be celebrating for.
Ciel sighed as the looked out his favorite bay window from his office. Nowadays, the small room was cluttered and untidy as Ciel's new greasy, stress-stained hair. Most times, the didn't even attempt to use the eyepatch that hid the dark arcane mark embedded in his right eye.
"What is troubling you, young lord?" A deep and simply enchanting voice seemed to bellow across the room, though it was only a mild-mannered whisper. Ciel turned to the door with a tired scowl to be greeted by his faithful and spiritually intimidating butler, Sebastian Michaelis. Sebastian had a slight frown, his eyes showing a twinge of melancholy curiosity.
Ciel thought for a moment, before giving a seemingly hateful "nothing." He knew Sebastian wouldn't accept that answer, but surprisingly the black-haired servant nodded as he continued to clean like a dancer.
The Earl knew something was very wrong, and that it dated back... actually, about a week or two. Sebastian had been unnaturally social, always having a seemingly intense conversation with anyone who walked by or letting out a rather heart-warming chuckle that was nothing like Ciel had ever heard from his demure butler. Not only that, Sebastian seemed more patient with the rest of the servants, treating them more like friends or family instead of his bumbling underlings. The lush greens lawns, which by now looked like the fields of Ireland, were well taken care of and showing amazing signs of life. This meant that Finny was working actually quite interestingly because he was known for being a foolish, childish sapling. Along with that, the dishes, cabinets and other furniture had properly been washed, cleaned, and surprisingly not broken. This was relevant because this meant that Mey-Rin actually went from being a clumsy ditz to a graceful ballerina. In fact, Ciel had seen her flowing gallantly down a hallway like an apparition, expensive plates and porcelain stacked by the dozen without dropping a single item. The biggest change there seemed to be the food. Typically, Sebastian had to prepare the meals because they normally were burnt to a crisp. However, Sebastian had not been cooking the evening entrees, instead the gutsy chef Bard proudly presented gourmet dinners that were made of only the most impressive vegetables, mouth-watering meats, and succulent fruits.
Ciel continued to ponder. It all was just illogical to him as the tried to think of anything recent that could have set this all in motion. As new and out-of-the-blue as it was, it wouldn't be from the fact that the young Phantomhive had hired Grell Sutcliffe, the annoyingly flamboyant murderer of Ciel's aunt, Madame Red. To be honest, there were no hard feelings, being that Red tried to kill her niece anyways, along with a slew of prostitutes during the Jack The Ripper Case. Ever since then, Grell surprisingly continued to aid the Young Earl throughout various quests. Despite Grell's obsessive, homoerotic-esc behaviour, Ciel still accepted him... no, her... whatever, the point was that Grell was still given a job at the Manor and believe it or not, Grell worked flawlessly.
The rest of the Reaper Corps were actually staying quite quiet. They seemed to have left Ciel and his group to themselves ever since the Luxury Liner skirmish. Even Ronnie, the "rowdy" one of the Shinigami work force, was disturbingly silent. That only seemed to leave two people worth importance, and even that eliminated itself. Either Ciel's fiancee, Elizabeth, or the freakishly genius one who only referred to himself as "The Undertaker." Lizzy was... actually an innocent snowflake, leaving the elusive lunatic.
"Sebastian, I need to visit The Undertaker," Ciel said a little more commanding than normal, spinning around in his chair. Sebastian looked up, puzzled.
