Before This All Began...

**Lauren's POV**

I was a normal kid before this mess. Sure I was magic, but I was normal. I was a half blood who went to Hogwarts, School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry. I was set to graduate in 2024, in 2 years. Now that will never happen. Now let me fill you in...

I was a fifth year, 15 years old. My best friend, Katherine; or Kat, was in the same year, she's 16. I had little sister in 2nd year and a cousin in 6th year who was also 16. My sister's name is Brittaney and my cousin's name is Leah.  Kat's older brother, Niall, was in 7th year and was dating Leah. Me and Kat hopped that one day we would be related, so we were constantly setting up dates between the two. They had even gotten together by  us pranking the two into kissing each other.

We were all happy, we didn't have a care in tho world. Thought we had our whole lives, but that was about to change.

Me and Kat were both prefects for Hufflepuff house. Lucius Malfoy has broken out of Azkaban recently and we had been having drills for a break in all year. A few other former Death Eaters had also broken out. We had a drill that night. I remember the time precisely. 12:38 in the morning. Me and Kat went to Professor Sprout's office as we had been told to do, but she told us to go back to our dorms and lock our doors. "Wonder what that was about," Kat said. Then we heard it. Headmaster McGonagall was talking to Professor Longbottom. "...only this isn't a drill," I heard.
