I could usually run for hours, it was usually never hard till now. I could feel the blood running down my side as I pushed myself to go faster. It didn't help that the drops of blood that I left behind glowed, but on the plus side they would soon fade. I could hear the sirens and faintly see the flashing lights, "fuck" I huffed as I tried to find a place to hide. I leaned up against a tree while holding my side, "this couldn't get worse." I sighed as I started to push myself off the tree, and further into the forest. I lost track of how long I had been running, as a storm rolled in and the ground beneath my feet turned to mud. I kept falling down the muddy hills and ran through the freezing creeks, it took hours till I made it to the other side of the forest only to almost get hit by a van. I jumped to the side as the van swerved around me and then came to a complete stop.
"Are you alright?" a man got out of the van.
I looked at him ready to run again if I needed to.
"Hey, hey it's ok." another man got out of the van.
I grabbed my side trying to stop blood from dropping on the pavement, with no luck of course.
"Look why don't you get in the van and we can help you." one asked he held his hands up as to show that he wasn't a threat.
"Why should I trust you?" I growled.
"We are the same as you, see." one of his hands started to glow.
"Get in the van and we can get you cleaned up, and away from the Sentinel Services." the other guy said while opening the side door.
I quickly looked over my should back into the forest, and the quickly ran and jumped in the van. Once the door was shut behind me, the others to jumped in and drove off.
"Here." a woman with red hair wrapped a blanket around my shoulders, "you must be freezing." she gave me a half smile.
I grabbed the blanket and held onto it, "where are we going?"
"To our hideout, you'll be safe there. I'm Marcos by the way." he smiled at me over his shoulder.
"I'm John, just relax we'll be there soon."
I sighed and leaned back against the side of the van, allowing myself to quickly fall asleep.
"Hey wake up, we are here." Marcos let go of my shoulder and stepped away.
I climbed out of the van with the other woman behind me, "come with me, need to get you patched up." John placed a hand between my shoulder blades and escorted me inside. "Hey Kate need you to tend to her side, please."
A woman with blonde hair ran over to us, "come this way sweetheart."
I followed the woman known as Kate towards a metal table, "yeah I shouldn't sit on that." I took a few steps away while applying pressure to my side.
"Here how about this." she grabbed a few towels and draped them over the table. I nodded and sat down, "alright going to need you to take your jacket and shirt off."
"Getting personal fast." I pulled my jacked and shirt off laying them down next to me.
"Going to need you to lift your arm up."
I lifted my arm over my head giving her access to my side, I could feel her cold hands working on my side.
"Whats your name?" she asked.
"I'm Alex."
"Alright so why don't you tell me what happened." John and a few others walked towards us.
"The Sentinel Services kept harassing my parents and they just finally had enough and sold me out, so instead of just going with them I ran." I tried to at the least make a fake smile.
"That's horrible, parents should always protect their children." Kate said as she started to stitch my side up.
"Wow sweet tattoos." a boy with brown hair ran up to us.
"Andy now isn't the time." Kate said sternly.
"Yeah they came with my ability, first they started out small and then got bigger."
