The star streaked across the sky, fast as an arrow, slicing through the horizon and hurtled straight towards her. She was standing at a tranquil lake at dusk, silhouetted against the purple sky. It crashed through the trees with a crunch. She stared, paralysed with fear, as the shooting star smashed into her...

Far away, a fawn was nibbling on a tuft of fresh grass in the forest.  Everything was quiet and safe- until a speck of light fell from the sky like a tiny diamond, leaving a glinting path behind.

The fawn raised its head.

All of a sudden, a white flash flared up from where the star hit the ground, illuminating the indigo night sky. An enormous shock wave swept through the earth, slamming trees backward and knocking animals down.

The fawn was lying on the ground. It pushed itself upright and stared at the new clearing where a crater was formed near the lake.

What it saw was a girl, shimmering from head to toe in a mysterious glow, spreadeagled in the centre of the hole.
