"YES YES YES THIS IS FLAWLESSSSS!!!" squealed Scarlett after filling her garden with candies. There were rainbow lollipop flowers under tall, scented chocolate birch trees. The boring, drab pebbles were replaced by delicious rock candies. She jumped up and down excitedly, her glitter sneakers crunching into a candycorn flower bed, then reached up to stroke the "leaves" of a pink cotton candy tree. The sticky fluff came off at once, attaching itself to her hand as if reluctant to let go, so Scarlett licked it off.
Back inside, she made the entire house modern, stylish and state-of-the-art. She twirled through the kitchen with a white marble island and the living room with a soft couch with plump cushions and a flat screen TV. Very conveniently, she left out Annalisa's room, previously the nicest-looking room in the house. She could boast about that pinterest-y look all she wanted; it didn't come close to Scarlett's.
It was all becoming clear to her now. Her life was going to turn from bad to brilliant. And this was only the start...
Two hours later, she skipped down the stairs, dressed in a fashionable sweater, perfectly fitting jeans and leather boots. Who cared if she was over-the-top now? Her parents were at work and Annalisa was probably at some karoke place. Now she could do whatever she liked.
She glanced with satisfaction at her reflection in the marble-framed mirror, decorated with pretty shells here and there. It was all perfect, all so perfect.
But she wasn't feeling that way when she heard the sound of high heels tapping the glossy living room floor, a gasp and a clunk as something fell to the floor.
She gulped. Her mother was home.
"Scarlett? Scarlett? What's going on?"
