A few weeks later...
Scarlett lay sprawled on her perfect white duvet, staring up at the cloudless blue sky. Bored. So very bored. What was there for her to do? A simple wish and her homework was done, her room was cleaned. What was the purpose of life anyway, when everything was already done for you? B
Before this had happened, she'd actually been able to do something in her life, but with this gift, it was just too tempting. Addictive, even. She just couldn't stop making wishes. One after another, tumbling out of her mouth like a waterfall. It was like lies. Tell a few and then begin to tell some more.
Lazily, she groped for her brand-new cellphone and began surfing YouTube- but even that didn't satisfy that gnawing feeling inside her. It was too easy. All too easy.
She mentally came up with a list of things to do- go to the beach? She'd done that last week, with her gang of new "friends". She'd had a pool party, a disco party, a karoke party, a shopping spree, and had even teleported herself to a mani-pedi place once.
Somehow, she didn't feel like doing any of these things right now. True, it was fun at first- it was epic. But now all she could feel was hollowness, like something inside her was missing.
Then she knew what she had to do. It wasn't easy; it was hard, but it would save her from a lifetime of boredom. It would restore her humanity and her real life.
"I wish I could turn back the clock."
