We live in a world full of advancement, and technology, a place where humans are constantly trying to move forward. But there is one thing they haven't mastered- magic. Magic in nonexistent, something for childrens fairy tales- or so you thought. There is a secret world though, a society riddled with magic, all around us. I found myself tangled in this secret world at fourteen years old. My name is Angela, and this is my story.
I sat on my rooftop, hanging out with my best friend Bandit, and we were eating some cherries off the tree that hung near the roof.
"Hey Bandit!" I called, walking barefoot across the roof to where I could see the street. "C'mere!" Bandit sighed and stood up, walking next to me.
"What now Angela?" she asked, crossing her arms. I pointed at the street, to a girl who was standing in front of the house. she had a huge black umbrella, despite the face that it was totally dry out and at least eighty five degrees. she stared at the house, and I grew uncomfortable under her gaze.
"She's just standing there." I said. Then girl waved at us, and then motioned as if to follow her. "Bandit I think she wants to show us something. Bandit, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly shook her head.
"Trust me, you don't wanna follow her." she said with conviction. I looked at her incredulously, crossing my arms.
"What do you know her?" bandit nodded her head, face a bit pale.
"Then what's the problem?" I asked, turning back to look at the girl, who was still standing there.
"Angela just trust me, you don't wanna follow her." I knew Bandit was keeping something from me, which wasn't like her. And whatever this was, it was big, because she looked honestly scared, and Bandit doesn't scare easily.
"Well she's not leaving till we follow her" I stepped back before simply leaping off the roof. most people would have been hurt badly from the fall, but I landed perfectly on my feat, knees bent into a crouch so I didn't break my legs. my friends all laughed about it, I never seemed to land anywhere but my feet. "I'm gonna see what she wants" I called up to Bandit, turning to walk towards the girl. I heard Bandit call for me to wait up. but I ignored her. I wanted to see what this secret was all about. I walked up to the girl, smiling. "hi" I said. "What's up?" she turned her head and looked at me, and I gasped when I saw her eyes.
They were black. pitch black, and I couldn't seem to look away. she opened her mouth and spoke, but I didnt hear what she said. suddenly, I felt bandits hands on my shoulder, yanking me away from the girls startling gaze. I hit the ground, looking up to see bandit confronting the girl. it was weird, bandit didn't seem at all phased by her eyes.
"What are you doing here?" I heard bandit ask, rudely getting in the girls face.
"I'm here to collect the witch for her initiation rite." the girl had a smooth voice, almost as if it was melted chocolate. Bandit crossed her arms, flipping her hair a bit.
"Witch? Angela is a human. She has no witch in her family blood."
"That's not true, and you know it Bandit. now help her up. we have to leave" Bandit growled, sounding almost like a wild animal, before yanking me to my feet. I stumbled along behind her, confused.
"Witch?" I thought as we followed the girl.
