Cherry's P.O.V.
I wanted to chase after him & hold onto him for an eternity, but as soon as I moved the slightest bit, I felt the same pain as before race along my side.
I looked down at all the tubes and wires hanging around my body. Ones in my arms, ones attached to machines, & some just hanging around uselessly.
I started to drift asleep, thinking of Elijah, when out of nowhere, the door burst open & I saw the faces of my four family members race through, clearly excited to see me. They all have me small smiles & sympathetic looks as they approached my bed.
My mom who had tears staining her cheeks had hugged me instantly, making my side burn with pain. She release me & looked at my sadly when she saw me wince in pain.
I turned to my brother who was cowering behind my dad & older sister.
My sister, Jessie, was 22. Stan, being 9, was unsure of what to do. My dad moved away from them to chat.
"How yah feelin' sport?" he said making an attempt to either be funny or sincere... I couldn't tell.
"Fine so far. Aside from my head, it's pounding." I replied, touching my temple lightly.
With that, Jessie glanced at me and walked out the door, an idea beaming through her head. I ignored her off look & listened to my dad ramble on about football.
I heard two sets of steps come in, to which I looked up to fine Jessie walking in with a nurse.
"Here, sugar." the nurse held out two pills and a glass of water.
"Thanks..." I mumbled to the nurse, gingerly taking them from her grasp, sending Jessie a thankful glance who nodded and smiled to herself, earning the feeling of accomplishment.
"Now..." The nurse begun. "We're going to run some tests & she should be out of here by 7 pm (it was a bit after 1) so you all can pick her up after that. She spoke to my family as they exited the room, giving small waves and smiles.
