My name is Jane. I'm as simple and plain as my name. I'm not a fan of super cheerful people or super gloomy people, I'm not really a fan of anyone to be completely honest with you. I like the colors gray and brown and my house shows it. The outside has been painted gray and the windows are painted white on the edges. All of the furniture in my small living room is brown and my kitchen is a mix of brown, gray, and white. My bed sheets are brown and so is my comforter and my favorite fuzzy blanket is white with gray polka dots. The extra room of my house has been turned into an art room, where I paint pictures of women standing in the rain with their umbrellas over their heads like halos and they are usually expressionless. I'm not an exciting person, the only contacts in my phone are my Mom and my brother, Steven. I'm not the stereotypical main character in a book in which everything goes right for me and I end up in a loving relationship with a seemingly perfect man. I have only been in two relationships in my life, one with a boy named Jax, which I will get to later, and one with an old friend of mine, Peter. Jax... well, let's just say he wasn't one to keep his hands to himself. ...Anyways, let's continue on with my narration on my life. I'm 19, I have no social life, I spend most of my time scraping my paintings because I am either too lazy to finish them or I simply hate them, my mother and I don't even have that great of a relationship considering we haven't talked to each other in two years, and I like to listen to calming, stress-relieving music when I paint and read. My favorite books are usually by Dean Koontz, and that's all there really is to me. I'm sure you're probably wondering about my past, about who Jax is and why I never mentioned my father or older sister, but... we'll get to that later. For now, we rest.

                                                                                                                             sincerely,  jane

And with that, I close my journal after leaving my signature at the bottom of the page. "Today's forecast is -" I turn, to see why the meteorologist didn't finish her sentence when I see that the small TV I have has turned to static. "Again, really?!" I sigh in frustration as I take my broom, which is laying against my wall and hit the ceiling. I hear footsteps from above and then a door slam and then a few seconds later, a knock at my door. Slipping on my gray slippers, I twist the doorknob with all my might, seeing as it won't open if you don't put as much strength into it as you can, and then I see Jerry, my landlord. His white-turned-yellowish-white tanktop is stained with soy sauce and taco meat, but I say nothing about that. "What?" He practically growls at me, scratching his balding head with his right hand and picking his nose with his left. "My TV -" Sighing, he walks in and I am about to tell him to take off the beaten up tennis shoes he always wears, when I notice he's in nothing but his socks today. Hitting the side of my TV a few times, the screen then goes back to normal, showing Nancy Meriweather - the local meteorologist - talking about the hurricane cities away from us. I envy her finitely. Her lips are much bigger than her small, oval-shaped eyes and are always stained with a hot pink lipstick that just isn't her color. Don't even get me started on the fake tan or her terribly-dyed dirty blonde hair. But her eyes... her eyes are the most beautiful shade of brown whilst mine are a dull gray, a different gray than my furniture. I thank Jerry and he grunts, walking lazily out of my door and then going to the stairs and going up them and opening the door to his room. Jerry has lived with me ever since his ex-wife Marilynn kicked him out for "stinking up the place" and "being too much of a nuisance" for her and their twin children, Rob and Stanley. I walk over to the door and close it, seeing as Jerry didn't, and then sit on the couch and slowly, I drift off into a dream about the peaceful ocean waves.
