Jack stood open mouthed staring at Travis who also looked completely terrified. "T...that is exactly what mine looks like!" Fear shot through Travis' body like he had just been electrocuted. After what felt like hours Travis finally pulled himself together to say "What are we going to do?" Jack looked just as scared as Travis did before saying "We need to stick together." Travis immediately agreed, no longer feeling like he was alone in this nightmare.

Once they made the agreement to stay together they walked back into the canteen and sat down at the same table. Travis looked over at the table he previously sat at and saw his friends looking at him confused, he waved them over and watched as they approached the table and sat down. "Jack, I hope its okay if my friends stay with us too." He said smiling brightly. "Sure thing!" Jack said back before proceeding to introduce himself to Travis' friends and get to know them more. During lunch they never spoke about the mark in front of their other friends until they were ready. Once lunch was over they both went to their separate classes agreeing to meet up after school to talk about the mark.

~After school~

Jack and Travis met up at the school gates rushing off before any of the others could catch up with them. "So, what are we going to do about this?" Travis asked nervously. "I don't know, I suppose all we can do is try and survive longer than anyone else has. Did you have any visions of who did this to you?"Jack sounded genuinely interested in what was going on. "N...no. All I saw was black smoke." Fear filed Travis' voice as he remembered the dream. "That's exactly what I saw too, but I saw a glimpse of these like metal claws before I woke up." Jack shuddered as he also recalled the dream he had. The boys spent the rest of the evening talking about the mark and trying to come up with a plan. Travis left Jacks' house before dark and walked home as fast as he could, fear gripping him with every step.

Once home Travis sat on his bed with a terrible feeling in his stomach, he didn't want to sleep since he knew the creature or whatever it was would come to him and try to take his life. He stayed awake staring at the ceiling, before long his mum Gabriella walked into the room. "You okay sweetheart?" She asked noticing how apprehensive he looked. "Yeah I'm fine mum" He gave her the brightest smile he could manage. "Alright sweetie" She said before giving him a hug and kissing his forehead "Don't stay up too late, you have school in the morning" She smiled and closed the door too behind her. Travis listened to her footsteps go into her bedroom and heard the door close before he laid back down in bed shaking from a mix of fear and tiredness.

After a few hours of laying their immobile out of fear Travis picked up his phone and began composing a text to his best friend Mitchell.

"Hey, Mitch. I don't know if you will be awake right now but I needed to get something off my chest. I've been marked by that thing. I'm way too scared to sleep. I don't know what to do anymore Mitch. I'm terrified."

Mitchell never replied to the message.
