Drawing of Zoe Edgelord

You know what the best thing about living in Tartarus is? You get woken up every morning by your best friend screaming for you to kill monsters. Incredible, right? Yeah that's exactly how I wake up this morning, To my friend Jae screaming at the top of his lungs, telling me to grab my Stygian sword from my nightstand. Seconds later, I am charged by a hellhound the size of Hades himself. Great, just great, I think to myself, unsheathing my sword. Within a few seconds, the Hellhound is a pile of dust. I swoop down to grab the spoil of war, a hellhound tooth, whispering a blessing of battle.
"For you, Father, though you don't accept me"
Jae poked out from behind my door.
"Mornin, Zoe," He says, slightly out of breath from all the screaming he did.
"Morning ya dork," I reply. "You know you could have fought that, right? It was just a Hellhound", I say, slightly exasperated as I put my sword back on my bed frame.
"Nah, it's more interesting to watch you fight stuff, and plus I didn't have a weapon. The gods know I can't lift your sword"
I smile, knowing very well he's never without weapon. He knows about my rituals, and respects them. That's one of the reasons he's my best friend. My Only friend. I am Zoe, daughter of Thanatos. I once had beautiful, spirit wings like my father, but my cousin Hera cursed my wings. My left wing is angelic, and my right demonic. Hera claimed I was a cursed creature, and should forever be punished for my heritage. Whatever that means. After that wonderful experience, Father shunned me and sent me to Tartarus to fend for myself when I was only 14. About a year later, I met Jae, and he's made Tartarus feel like home (if that's even possible).
I walk back to my room and close the door. I quickly change into a pair of jeans, black shirt, and combat boots before grabbing my sword and fastening it to my belt. I slide a couple of Stygian blades in a sheath in the side of my boot before grabbing a cloak. I would wear a mortal hoodie, but the cloak is more comfortable with my wings. I technically can hide my wings, but it feels better to have them free. Plus, my cloak has hidden compartments where I keep more stygian blades. I quickly run a comb through my hair on my way out, noting the time. My hair changes color depending on mortal sunrise, a blessing from Apollo. I'm not sure why he thought it to be important for me to know, or what time zone it is, but it's the time I run by. Currently, it is pinkish and yellow, signifying sunrise.
On my way out, I grab some homemade cyclops jerky, and walk outside and wait for Jae. Sometimes, you would think he is the indecisive teen girl, he takes so long. A couple of minutes later, he walks out, clad in the same outfit as me, except his cloak is brown, whereas mine is black.
"Ready J?" I ask, turning to him.
"Ready as I'll ever be to risk my life again. What's the strategy today?" He asks, shrugging a bag with supplies across his shoulders.
"I don't really have one today, just regular practice. Divide and conquer, I guess," I reply, opening and closing my wings. "We need to work on our symbols, but other than that, I've got no plan." I pause before continuing. "You?"
"We could always make it a competition, see who gets the most fatal blows," He suggests, smiling.
"You're on!" I exclaim, unfurling my wings. "Meet ya in the clearing!" And with that, I flew away, only stopping enough to do a flip in the air.
By the time he caught up to me, I had already located a few targets. A cyclops, A hellhound, and a young giant. I crouch down to the ground and wait for him to catch up to me. He drops to my side, and unsheathes a small dagger from his left leg before speaking.
