Beth pressed the bottle gently to her chapped lips. The feeling of cold liquor going into her stomach and the smell of cigarette smoke fills her senses. If the motel room didn't smell before, it certainly did now.

The sound of a ringing phone startled the quiet that had overcome the room, making Beth jump. She didn't want to talk, something she had been very keen on over the past year or so. Reluctantly, Beth picks up the phone, purely out of fear that something had happened to a family member...Not that any of them would want to speak to her. "Hello?" She clears her throat, bracing herself for whoever may reply. There was some silence...But after a moment someone finally spoke.

"Hey! Beth!" The voice booms from the other end of the phone. She lowers the cigarette from her lips, placing it in between her pointer and middle finger with a confused look on her face. There was something familiar about it. The man on the other end continues: "How've you been?"
That's when the voice registered in her mind.
"Hello Dean..." She closes her eyes for a moment with a sigh. There was a sense of dread stirring in the pit of her stomach. She didn't care if he was a childhood friend, she wanted to be left alone. "What's wrong?"

She sounded impatient.

"Pshh..." He laughed from the other end of the phone. There seemed to be a hint of anxiety in his tone of voice. "What makes you think something's wrong?"

"Don't lie to me Winchester-" Beth stood from her chair and went to the restroom, still holding onto her lit cigarette.

Once in the restroom Beth moves a strand of white hair out of her face. Most other girl's her age didn't have to worry about white hair. Beth was young woman after all, only in her early twenties...But she has "suffered" from white hair ever since she was five.... A side effect of the paranormal, as her father would say.

Dean sighs from the other end of the phone. "Yeah...You caught me Ghost Girl."

Beth's pale face turns a light red from the nickname. She hadn't been called that in years. She walks over to the old, grimy tub, and sits down on the edge of the dirty porcelain. She blows a small bit of smoke from her lips. "What'd you screw up this time Dean-o?"

"Well, technically I didn't screw anything up." He says. Dean's use of emphasis on the word "I" made Beth roll her stormy grey eyes. "I mean, If I did-"

"Cut to the chase-"

"My dad is missing."

There was a moment of silence from her end of the phone as she pauses. If anything, Beth didn't understand why Dean would be calling her about this. John Winchester going missing for a while wasn't anything new.

"Okay?" She says. Beth takes her cigarette and presses it into her knee with a slight wince. "And why are you telling me this?"

"Because...I'm worried?"

Beth felt frustrated as she pressed the bud of the cigarette deeper into her pale skin. It may have been unhealthy, something was fully aware of, but to her it was therapeutic. "You don't sound to sure of yourself Dean...."

He sighs. "Beth...Listen. I'm gonna be honest-"

"That would be appreciated-"

"Just, shut up for five minutes and listen." Anxiety was dripping from his voice. "I could look for my dad myself. But the thing is, I don't want to! I want...No I need someone with me for this. I'm on my way to pick up Sam-"

Her face turns a very deep red at the mention of Dean's younger brother, Sam Winchester. He was about the same age as Beth by this point. "What makes you think he'll go with you? Isn't he at Stanford or something?"

"He is. And no, I don't know if he'll agree to come with or not." He sighs. "But what I do know, is that I need help. Please Beth...I need you right now. It can be like, a reunion for us. The three amigo's back again!" Dean chuckles at his own comment.

"What makes you think I even want to come?"

"You kept my number didn't you?"

Beth was thankful that this conversation was taking place over the phone, and not in person. Her face was as red as a tomato.

"Where are you at?"

Beth mumbled the name of the motel angrily.

"Good, I'm only a few miles away..." He smirked...She could practically hear it. "See you then ghost girl-"
