Growing up on a government facility is not the greatest. If anything, it destroys you. The mold you to think you are a thing. To think that they own you, that someone's money owns you. I am Diana. I live in the sector nine bioengineering lab and barracks. When the earthen governments sent a colony to Mars, there were big arguments over the laws to be put in place there, and a civil war broke out. The Mars colonists thought that some extra laws put in place were unjust, and they weren't going to allow it. Of course, the earth wouldn't allow them to just dismiss laws, so they decided to declare war. The mars setters were winning, but that was all according to plan. That is where people like me come in. genetically modified super soldiers enhanced with animal DNA to do specific jobs. Like how they use dogs to sniff out bombs in the 2nd world war. Old school according to today's standards, but they couldn't help but employ it again, except using people instead. Our brains being more sophisticated, enhancing our abilities with those of other organisms. For me, it was a dog. My old pet german shepherd Diana actually. When they genetically alter us, we are given the name of the animal of which our DNA came from. They not only used dogs, but wild cats and other wild animals were also used. Now, the earth is training bioengineered soldiers for war on mars, to take over the rebellion, and have us guarding the small colony 24-7. I would not hate it as much if I agreed with their cause, but I don't. The earthen governments wanted to place unlawful taxes on the Mars colonies, and not giving Mars the rights of a normal United State. Anyway, next week is the end of my regiments training, and we will be deployed. We will be special operatives, spies, pilots, and soldiers. We will destroy the mars settlement, and I will have to live with the consequences. I am not the only one who disagrees with the government. There are others who can see through the lies they feed us, and they are my only comfort.

"Regiment 146, you will be deployed to mars next week. This week will be your advanced testing. If you fail any critical tests or more than one uncritical test, you will be decommissioned, so I suggest you be on your A- game. Today will be a simple simulation of a battle. You will each be given a role to play. If you fail to follow orders, or the mission is not completed within the time limit, you will fail, and retest tomorrow. Do your best and good luck," a soothing female voice sounded over the intercom, and the doors in front of us opened. The entire regiment crammed into the prepping station, and one by one, we received our assignments, and our gear. When it was my turn, I was filled to the brim with fear, and dread. I couldn't decide if i wanted to purposely fail, or pass. Maybe i didn't want to be deployed, but the stories going around about what 'decommission' meant, swayed me to passing. My assignment was the third infantry division. Iam supposed to be a scout, using my enhanced abilities to scan for threats, like land mines, and ambushes. Not the safest assignment, but what i wanted to do. The least amount of killing, in fact more saving lives than killing

I was nervous about the job, but i knew that i wouldn't really put people's lives in danger if i made a mistake, but that didn't stop me from being scared.

"Hey, your the scout for our team, come on,"a tall dark skinned, buff boy called over to me.

I was glad to see Harper and Tris standing in the group too. Tris was the pilot, and Harper was the weapons master. The dark skinned boy was the leader, and a small olive skinned boy was the technician.

"Were going to sector 3, the mining sector. Probably the most dangerous sector, and it will have many hidden threats. That's where diana comes in. she will go ahead, and scout for a hidden attack. Then, tris will fly the rest of us in after the coast is clear. If there is an ambush, harper will be incharge of all weapons. If there is no ambush or threat, she will man the guns in the ship. We got a rampion, and lucky for us, gabe here is an expert on rampions. I am tyler, our group leader. You will do as i say, as i do as my superiors say. If you cannot abide to these rules, state this now, or forever hold your peace," he said, and when there was no response, he continued.
