It all started on a hot summer day. My uncle and I had just got home from a hard day at work. We barely opened the front door, until we got a call from the boss saying that the Fire-Department had called him and said they needed a 40 yard. Dumpster because there had been an accident with an 18 wheeler involving recycling.Clack." We shut the door. We then raced like the flash to the yard to get the truck and a dumpster. When we got to the yard, we started the truck and raced to the scene.
"Prende las luces!"--(Turn on the lights)-----Said my uncle
I then turned on the hazards, strobe, and work lights. It took us about 20 minutes with traffic to arrive at the scene. It was a huge mess, the Fire-Department had blocked off about a mile of the bridge. The scene looked like a demolition site! As we lowered the container, the Fire-Department asked for another one.
We raced like the flash back to the yard, and back to the scene ASAP. When we got back to the scene, the medics were giving CPR a lady that the Fire-Fighters had pulled out of a car.She got so burned up,her hair was burning up with fire. By the time the Fire-Department had left, we had started to clean up the debris. While cleaning the debris with big machines, we saw gasoline heading toward the debris. Since the debris was partially mops and sponges, the debris caught fire.
"Rapido un extinguidor!!"----(quickly, bring an extinguisher)--Said me and my uncle.
The fire starting turning wild, which we call a wildfire!
"Necesitamos a los bomberos!!"-- (we need the Fire-Department)--I said
I raced to the truck to get the fire extinguisher, as i started to put the fire out, the extinguisher
started running empty. Once the extinguisher got empty, the Fire-Department finally arrived to put out the fire. When the container was full, we went to the yard to dump the container. On the way back to the yard, the debris turned into a huge blaze.
We ended cleaning up all the debris at the scene by 8:00 a.m. .We worked 24 hours that day! The rest of the morning, I got so happy because I got to be a Volunteer Fire-Fighter.
