Chapter 3: Uncertainty Ahead (part 1/4)

           

           I like writing, I swear. Just only for the first couple seconds of doing it. Then I get bored.

           The entire conference room immediately broke out into chatter. Sky shifted his papers, preparing for what he was about to say while waiting for everyone to calm down. Team Crafted officials rushed up and down the table handing out packets of information to the team. Or... most of them anyway. No one else seemed to notice that the officials hesitated in giving the packets to Jerome and Husky. No one saw when the official responsible for Jerome's packet avoided the bacca's outstretched paw in favor of putting the papers down on the table next to him and hurrying away.

           But Mitch did.

           He tapped Jerome's shoulder to tear the bacca's attention away from the stapled paper on the table. Mitch felt genuine surprise when Jerome turned to him without a trace of his signature toothy grin.

          "Jerome? Biggums... are you alright? You seem a little... out of it."

          Jerome blinked slowly at the question, before waving his paw lazily to assure Mitch, that yes, he was fine. Totally, utterly, completely fine.

           Mitch tilted his head, even more concerned. 

           "Are you sure, bud? You don't seem fine."

           Oh, I said that out loud.

           Jerome shrugged off Mitch's worry and turned to watch Sky, who was preparing to speak again now that the chattering has decreased.

           "I just didn't get much sleep last night, that's all." The bacca muttered to his best friend as he went back to pretending to focus on Sky.

Sorry for this fourth of a chapter, I just figured I'd post something to let all'y'll know I'm not dead.
