"This is the fifth time in the last three days we've had to do this crap." Sato complained as he wiped sweat from his forehead.

"It's ridiculous man, he really should just drop out." His friend Arvan Ito said, looking at a man being yelled at by a captain.

"Now run up the hill. I better see you back here in 3 hours." The captain yelled, walking away, steam almost pouring from his ears. The man slowly turned and started jogging the 10 mile hike to the top of the hill, then back.

"Two weeks left and he decides to pull this crap." Ito mutters to himself as he watches the man run.

"The rest of you go back to the barracks, and stay on standby." The captain yelled to the platoon.

"Yes, sir!" The whole platoon yelled at once as they went to attention.

As they walked into the barracks, a Master Sergeant with a ranger tab on stared at them.

"Sit down." He ordered them. They all did so in a quick fashion.

"I will be taking five of you with me and you will be given a chance to become part of the finest fighting force the self-defense force can offer." He said, confidently, as he picked up a clip board.

"Suzuki, Ito, Kanashi, Nakamura and Sato pack your equipment and report outside in 15 minutes." He ordered the five men as they stood up.

"Yes, sir!" They said as they jogged to their bunks and packed their equipment and grabbed their rifles, helmets and body armor.

                                                                            ...

As they stepped off the plane the heat hit the men like a pallet of bricks.

"Dang" Ito muttered wiping the already forming sweat.

"You said it" Kanashi a tower of a man standing at 6'4 said smiling.

"What are you so happy about!" A Master Sergeant yelled as he ran up to the five men.

"Nothing sir, just happy to be near home" Kanashi said as they all went to parade rest.

"Too bad you'll never make it there!" the Sergeant had yelled again.

"Now move to your tents before i make you all push!" he had yelled pointing to a set of tents. They ran to the tents, quickly claiming which one was their's.

"Ito, report to the CO immediately." the sergeant ordered as he walked up to the men

"Yes, sir!" Ito said and ran over to a building nearby. He knocked on the door and waited. After a minute or two a lieutenant waved him in and as he walked in he was greeted with a round of applause by a man sitting behind one of the desks.

"Bravo Ito, its about time you made it here." the short, stocky man behind the desk applauded him as he stood up and stepped towards him.

"Uncle, its great to see you." Ito said as he hugged him smiling.

"You as well nephew, you've grown taller." his uncle observed smiling widely.

"Yes, i have, now i must report to the CO uncle." he said looking around.

"You're looking at him." his uncle proclaimed proudly.

Although his uncle was commander he and his fellow soldiers had a rough and tedious training regiment. In the end they all passed with flying colors and were selected as either special forces group members or stayed as rangers. Except Ito, he had been selected to be put into a mixed special operations unit that would be sent through a hole created in the earth, to another dimension. This is the story of the Twenty First Mixed Special Operations Squad.
