Keira looked back down at her phone desperately to check for any messages or calls but there was nothing. The flare of hope slowly died inside her. Somehow, she had always known that it wouldn't work, not when his mom's life was on the line.

"All passengers for flight 815, please board now. Gates are closing in 5 minutes."

Looking down at her phone for one last time, she boarded the plane with tears in her eyes. A single tear dropped onto her boarding pass as she gave it to the attendant, not looking back this time. Once again, she had let down her walls, only to be broken once more. She sat down, staring intently at her phone. Contact: Landon MillerJ Her fingers hovered over it. Then she closed her eyes shut and let out a quiet sob, shutting the phone instead.

Bzzz Bzzz... Her head flew from the side of the window in a start and turned to her phone in a grimace. Zach. "Hello?"

"Keira?"

"Yeah, why are you calling me?" she asked curiously. He was never the one to call.

"I'm at Trenton Hospital. Logan's been shot, and it looks really bad. I just... you're the first person I thought to call."

Her face drained of color and zoned out the second she heard the word shot. "Shot? What... this is all my fault, ohmygod, what happened? Who... What about his parents?" she spilled out hysterically. "If he dies... God, Zach, this is my fault. I just-"

"Parents," he replied bitterly. "They don't even deserve to be called that. It looks really bad, just... Keira, I don't know what to do. I need you to be here, I don't... Please."

"I'll be right there."
