"Wan-ah!" Kai shouted at the top of his lungs.

...Wan - his destined soulmate - fell almost lifeless from her horse with an arrow struck deeply right through her chest. He hurriedly climbed down his mount and rushed to her side. With trembling hands, he lifted her head and squeezed her close to him.

"J-Jongin..." She weakly said, trying to reach out for him. "Please, go now. They w-will catch y-you!"

Tears furiously fell from his eyes while trying to apply pressure on the wound. He couldn't bear the sight of Wan, who was profusely bleeding, dying on his arms. He couldn't even think straight nor could he say anything to his dying wife-to-be as devastation flooded all over his body. He quickly scooped her up and tried to carry her on his own horse.

"M-my love..." Kai stopped. He looked down at the girl with that wretched look on his face. She looked so small, so delicate, and so fragile.

As he snuggled her closely, he noticed how bloody soaked her hanbok was and how she was coughing with blood every time she attempts to speak.

"Hold on. Hold on," he sobbed frantically while whipping his horse even harder to run as hasty as it can. He never thought everything would come to this. They used to live so happily and peacefully, trying to sort things out for their marriage and preparing for their future. Although he was physically there, his mind flew off wandering into their happy memories and their world where no one used to dare interfere.

Wan broke his reverie when she held his face and caressed it so gently - pale cold hands against the warmth of his tears. Her hands traveled down from his temples to his lips, trying to remember every detail of him so she could cherish them until her last breath, aware that she isn't going to last long.

He looked down to her and gave her a sad smile, trying to reassure her that he's there staying strong for her.

"It hurts...so much!" She whimpered in pain and agony, blood spitted out from her rosy lips.

Hearing those words felt like his heart shattered into a million pieces. He felt helpless and afraid. Afraid that he might never see her again tomorrow, afraid that he might never see her smile ever again - the sweet smile that was meant only for him.

"We're almost there! Don't close your eyes!"

Kai whipped his stallion once again as hard as he could. They ran into the forest trying to avoid the flying arrows. He looked back behind him and pissed to see how their hunters trailed closely behind them.

"We will make it. YOU will make it, I promise that!"

"P-please promise m-me we'll see each other again...in the n-next life."

And in a flash, her life dwindled away right in front of his eyes.

She was gone.

"No. no, no no no! Wan-ah!"

"Wan-ah!"

Kai woke up from his nightmare. All sweaty and breathing rapidly. Although he couldn't comprehend how everything felt so real as if it was just a flashback of events that have taken place before or how that name felt so strange yet so familiar in his tongue.

"Babe?" Krystal, who was sleeping so cozily beside him sat up and touched his shoulder. He jerked up, shocked by the sudden action. He almost forgot he was sleeping next to a goddess in the bed.

"Having nightmares? Were you dreaming of the war?"

"No, I'm sorry. Just strange dreams, hon. Go back to sleep." He smiled and kissed her forehead.
