Alex:
"All I'm saying is that if you just came to training on time just once-" I paused slapping Tyler's face lightly.
"-Maybe you would be able to realize that not only do I pull in those chics but I'm basically Michael Jordan on the court m'kay" I laughed shouldering Sasha, Tyler's girlfriend with a mock sexy wink. A look of disgust arose on her face and she stuck her finger down her throat mimicking a gag. So dramatic. To my left Josh stifled a laugh, I couldn't tell if he were laughing at me claiming that I was Michael Jordan or at Tyler's desperate attempt to think of a good comeback. His eyebrows pulled together in concentration.
Tyler scoffed, his challenging demeanor halting for a second as he looked around to see if anyone was around.
I chuckled and nodded towards Josh
"I'm gonna head out, gotta get home," I said
Josh nodded back
"See you tomorrow Mate," He said goodbye and I made my way out of the locker room still dripping in sweat from our training. I needed to get home before Jim, who was my mum's new boyfriend If I wanted to have a peaceful night. Unfortunately, she had managed to capture the heart of a Police General and now my fifteen-year-old sister, Leihanah and I have to endure his harsh rules and short conversations that sounded more like an interrogation than a friendly exchange. I strolled through the empty school hallways. I always found it serene walking down the school halls after hours. Training went from the end of the school day till 6 so everyone had left their clubs and library studying sessions by then. The lights were dim and my footsteps echoed through the hallways. I could still hear the rowdy cheers of my teammates coming from the locker room.
Another successful training session and now all I needed was an ice cold root beer and my T.V.
I unlocked the front door and pushed through with a harsh shove. Jim still needed to fix that. At least that's what he told mum. Along with a 'Relax Tanya, i'll call the plumber tomorrow morning." or a- " get Alex to do it, he's your son."
The house was dark, no one had bothered to turn on the lights.
"Mum, I'm home!" I yelled the silence that followed assured me that she was probably enjoying a night out. She deserved it anyway.
I took a quick shower and dumped my training bag onto my unmade bed, letting myself fall on top. I sighed and stared at the blank ceiling. I rolled over and found myself staring at the photo of mum and I that sat propped up against an old trophy I had won in 5th Grade. Even though the bastard who took it was my father, I still loved the photo. Mum, Leihana and I were standing out in the Canadian snowy weather, smiling broadly as we threw snowballs at each other. Our faces bare and happy. we had decided to go traveling that year, we only got as far as the United States though.
