The Climax: Two States One Love

ACT THIRTEEN SCENE 3

(Celina gets home with Alex. Everyone is seated in the parlor talking to each other. Martins just finish preparing his tea and comes to the parlor. Celina and Alex walk in. Everyone see and they are shocked.)

Mercy: who is this man Celina?

Martins: Celina, I won't harbor this attitude.

Celina: Uncle wetin I do? Na the man you say you go help me find.

Martins: Wow that's nice.

Alex: Good day sir.

Martins: Have a sit.

(Celina and Alex sit down and Martins stands up.)

Mercy: What's going on here?

Martins: You seem confused, very confused. This is not to make anybody scared or confused. I and Celina baby discussed this issue. She told me she was in love with someone she didn't know. She told me I and gave her my words that I will do anything to find the man.

Mercy: You're therefore telling me that you are encouraging Celina to be engaged so soon, isn't it just three month, take it easy. (She goes to shake Alex.)

Martins: Felicia and Andrew go and prepare something for both of them to eat.

Andrew: Alright Father.

Felicia: Alright Father.

Martins: Feel at home.

(Andrew and Felicia retire to the kitchen.)

Mercy: What is your name?

Alex: My name is Alex.

Mercy: Tell me about you.

Alex: I'm from Chicago. My mother... (He becomes tensed.)

Martins: What's the problem?

Alex: My Mum is terribly sick, I totally forgot about. (He leaves the house hurriedly.)

Celina: Uncle, we fit meet am. When we dey come he con give me he phone number.

Martins: So we can call him anytime right.

Celina: Yes Uncle. I tire self. I go go my room so I fit sleep.

(She retires to her room. Few minutes later Felicia and Andrew come out with two plate of salad on a tray.)

Andrew: Where are they?

Martins: They've all departed, go return or eat it instead.

Felicia and Andrew: What!!! (They turn to each other.)
