"Well.. Thank you for this evening." Lily said, smiling slightly as James walked her to the door of her house.
"No, thank you. It was great." James said, grinning.
She laughed slightly, turning to open the door.
"Wait, Lily, so now are we...?" he trailed off, presuming Lily would finish off the sentence for him.
"Friends." she said, nodding.
He sighed, disappointed even though he knew that she wouldn't agree to anything more. "Friends." he mumbled, forgetting his usual cocky self for a moment. He suddenly perked up a little and leaned in to kiss her, hoping to change her mind on their current 'friends' status.
"That was just the first date, Potter." Lily said, smirking slightly. "You'll have to do more than take me bowling to get a kiss."
"But you know you want to, Evans." he said, a slight smirk forming on his lips.
She rolled her eyes and turned away but he gently grabbed her chin and turned her head back towards him, leaning in so that their faces were close together, his warm breath tickling her skin. "Tell me that you don't want this." James whispered.
"Potter, I really don't think-" Lily said, but her words were cut off when James pressed his lips to hers, cupping her cheeks in his hands.
Lily automatically kissed him back but pulled away a few moments later when she realised what she was doing. "See you tomorrow, Potter." she said, biting her lip as she turned and walked into the house, leaving James out on the street to wonder if the kiss was real, or everything had happened inside his head.
