I turned to face my king. He sat in a high backed chair behind a large mahogany desk. "The target has been dealt with, sire."
"Very good. And what exactly is it that I am going to receive as the 'accident' that Lord Leium has fallen into?" King Kileath rested his chin on his interlaced hands. His deep green eyes looked at me, with a small glint and something else that he quickly dispelled. Fear. Fear, of me.
I looked him in the eye as I asked," Are you sure you don't want to be surprised. It will make you look more convincing when you are told later." I could feel my mouth curling into a smirk. I knew he would see the logic in him not knowing. But if he wanted to know I would tell him.
Kileath let a small smile play on hid lips as he thought about it before answering," I think I will be surprised." Looking over the papers on his desk he finds a small stack and goes through it. I know there is something that he wants to give me so I move to one of the chairs in front of his desk. I take the time to look over my king. His shoulder length brown hair is pulled back and his muscular tanned arms are showing and his eyebrows are drawn together in concentration. His high cheek bones that don't make his face harsh. In fact I don't think he could ever look harsh. To his full mouth that is now pursed in a tight line while he continues his search for whatever he is looking for.
Out of habit I look around the room without looking like I'm looking. The walls are lined with book shelves that contain massive amounts of books. The windows are draped with long green velvet curtains. There is a chair in the corner of the room that is very comfortable to curl up an read in. Kileath's desk is chaos as usual and I take not of everything that can be used as a weapon. I don't have to look at the room entirely because it is a room I am very familiar with.
"Found it!" Kileath exclaims sounding like a young child and also breaking me out of my scoping. I smile a little at his exclamation, the king only being 2 years older than myself and the fact he has treated me as a younger sister to him since he saved me and I acting as if he is my older brother making me comfortable, but still on guard. I never fully or even close to full relax.
"Here are some things I need you to do, and some tactic I would like you to go over with your men." Kileath hands the paper over to me and I i glance at it.
"No, problem."
"Well that is all I can think of, you may go."
"Thank you, I will see you at dinner?" I saw as i get up to leave.
"Yes, you will," He replies back. "Oh, and Eve." He uses my nickname, so I know he is talking to me as a brother not my king.
"Yes?"
"You know that it is ok to go out once in awhile. It might be good for you." He says in an caring and concerned voice.
I turn to look at him and see the concern that was in his voice now displayed in his eyes. "I am fine, I don't need to go out."
"Whatever you say, Eve." Kileath shakes his head and sighs.
I open the door just as the a messenger comes to it. "Is King Kileath in?"
"Yes, he is."
The messenger enters the room and goes to the desk and bows before saying,"Your Highness, Lord Leium has been killed in an accident."
"What was the accident?" he says as he glances my way.
I smirk and walk out just as the messenger says," It was a pack of wild dogs, your Highness."
