Prologue

The heavy wind whistled past the busy Manhattan streets, the cold damp air stuck to her body. She hurried past the late night crowd, her dark red fiery hair wiped around in the air, blinding anyone who came close enough to get poked in the eye. Her fitted black clothes outlined her curves, her black boots clicking against the moist ground. As she stalked past catching glances from pass buyers. She turned abruptly in to the mystic grey fog that loomed around seeping in to the nooks and crannies of the walls, and dirty grimy bins that lined up against the wall. She looked around spinning on her heel “I’m here,” she announced to no one in particular. Her breath casted a mist, she stomped her foot. “STOP wasting my time” In blink of an eye standing across her near the bins was a boy, he was wearing all black just like her but he was more built, the top outlined his muscles and biceps in the gloomy light his golden blonde hair darkened his facial feature counseled underneath the darkness. “I didn’t expect you to come,”

“I didn’t expect you to be such a-“

“We need to talk”

That’s it? You asked me to come, so you could talk? I had to sneak out, if you haven’t realized that’s because of you” jabbing her long slender finger at him “the Institute is on lock down by The Order.”

“I thought you would give me the reason of the doubt.”

The reason of doubt? Are you insane I’m breaking at least 10 laws just standing here talking to you-“

“Do you still love me?”

“Love you? Let me think, does this sound like someone in love would do? You knocked me out cold, and set the building on fire!”

“It wasn’t like that-“

“If you knocked me out cold outside the building then fine, but I could- could have died” The boy walked towards her holding out his arm, he knew she was right but he couldn’t help feel like she should have died in the fire. No, instead the love driven James had to save her the boy who was fond of her even when she didn’t feel the same towards him. “Don’t… just don’t,” she shuddered away from him, as if his skin was like poison burning her if she even dared touch him. She wanted to, all the fiber in her just wanted to just run in to his arms and cry out. But she restrained herself she knew the damage was done. “So its James then” she turned her back to him, she couldn’t face him she knew clearly that if she said yes she would tear him apart. “Why?” she asked instead of answering him, she felt him close, his warm breath sent tinkles of feeling down her back, he was so close she could hear his heart beat. “Because I love you, and I will always” She couldn’t bear the thought of him loving her when she turned him away. She abruptly turned facing him, his eyes… bluer than she remembered his golden blonde hair darker. “Please, please tell me you love me” he whispered, she couldn’t remove herself from staring in to his eyes, she backed away but he grabbed her pulling her in to a warm embrace. “I can’t” she whispered so quietly she doubted that he heard her, but he did, she saw a flash of anger and betrayal swipe past his eye but was quickly masked by the ice blueness of his eyes. “Fine.” he let go off her; he was puffing out mist of clouds one after another. “Look, I have- have to go now.” she turned to walk out of the miserably alley way “Wait,” he spoke to her, she stopped in her tracks, she turned around facing him. He started to walk towards her, she felt her heartbeat fasten, her pulse began to quicken he was a finger touch away from her. “Let me, please just kiss you for the last time before you go to lover boy,” without even a reply his lips planted themselves on to hers’, she moaned she had never been kiss they way he did, he was soft but not too soft hard but too hard he nibbled her lips. She couldn’t resist him any longer she wanted him so bad she pushed herself in to him; trying to fold in to him she locked her hands around his neck. She could hear the beat of his heart quicken he pulled her closer. She pulled away gasping for air. “You have never kissed me like that before,” he chuckled. She stood staring at him confused on what had just happened. “ I- I don’t know what just happened,” she stammered. “ ‘Its easy to fool the eye, but its hard to fool the heart’-“

“Al Pacino” he looked at her, and then grinned as he looked down at his hands, he looked so peaceful. “So you did read the book that I gave you”

You gave me the book?”

“You seem surprise. What thought lover boy gave you the book?”

“Will you stop, stop calling him lover boy”

“Why? Why shouldn’t I?”

“Because…” even she didn’t have the answer to that she had been so wrapped up worried about the other boy that she had loved so dearly, that she had forgotten James, he had been so kind to her he talked to her when everyone looked away to scared to upset her by saying something that would strike at her angry cord. “See even you don’t love him,”

“I do, I love him.”  She spat at the words quickly before she couldn’t say them.

“There are causes worth dying for, but none worth killing for.” His facial features harden. “What? What are you talking about?” She didn’t understand him. “I’m sorry mea amor,” he gently kissed her. She backed away something bad was happing and she felt it like thousands of tiny knives stabbing at her all at once. She hadn’t realized, that he was holding a something in his hand… a dagger its blade was the clearest of blues, the handle was sliver with a skull on it. She didn’t have a chance to move before he brought it done in to her, she couldn’t scream just gasp as the blade entered her body she fell in to his arms he slumped down holding her. His black top darkened where her blood had soaked. She stared at him, slowly feeling life slip away from her, she felt her tears race down her checks. He looked down at her with his piercing blue eyes. “W-why?” she chocked as she asked. “Shh,” he placed his fingers on her lips silencing her. “Te amo. Donec mortem nobis pars” he spoke to her in Latin, she knew what he meant… ‘I love you. Till death do us apart’
