Celeste was laying in her bed reading a new book Jack got her(he claimed "It was pretty good, but not for me.") when she heard a small whimper. Looking up and towards her door, she nearly dropped her book. Standing in the doorway was Shade in her own pjs with tears streaking down her face, her red eyes puffy from crying.
"Shade... What's wrong?" Celeste asked the girl(too young to be a woman, too old to be a teen). Shade just walked towards her and that's when Celeste realized she wasn't talking to Shade, but the young girl she used to be. Sometimes, if times got too rough or if something triggered something in her mind, Shade would revert back into her old self from before the transformation. Celeste met her halfway and pulled the girl into her bed, closing the door before joining her. "Shh.... What's wrong, котенок?" When she received a whimper as an answer, Celeste sighed and decided to pull Shade's long hair out from it's ponytail and ran her fingers through it. It always helped calmed her whenever she was alone on the streets and only Jack was there for comfort.
"I-It was too much..." Shade's voice came out raspy, probably from crying, but Celeste listened intently to see what happened to her closest friend. The only other person who held that high of a title was Jack. "Th-There was a sound... It sounded like him.." Shade's fingers made a rhythmic tapping on Celeste's thigh and Celeste swore in Russian under her breath. Of course, it made sense now. Someone must've been shouting at her during her job and it must've sounded like her step-father. Shade hiccupped again and buried her head in Celeste's shoulder, holding onto the other tightly.
"I got you, котенок, don't worry. He won't get you..." Celeste continued to run her fingers through Shade's hair, cursing the dead man. If he were still alive, no doubt would Celeste transform and tear him to pieces before flying off to see where she could drop his dead remains. Shade made one last hiccup sound before her breathing evened and Celeste looked down. With a soft smile, she gently untangled Shade from her and laid her down. Moving her book, she placed the covers over Shade before sighing. She needed some coffee or caffeine.
Walking into the kitchen, she noticed Lunaris was sitting at the table with a raised brow towards the wet spot on her shoulder. Mouthing 'Shade' and 'bad moment' Lunaris nodded and stood up, grabbing a steaming cup of coffee and handing it to Celeste. "I saw her when she got back from her newest job. She looked wrecked so I made this for you, knowing she'd end up with you. Hope she feels better soon." Luna said before patting Celeste's shoulder with her flesh hand and walking off. It was no secret within the Guard that Shade would have bad moments and revert to her previous self, but they all knew Celeste could handle it.
After watching the blue-haired lunar princess walk off towards the stairs, most likely to work on her arm or leg, Celeste took a sip of her coffee. Smiling a little seeing it was her favorite brew, she walked back into her room where Shade had curled up. Closing the door, she made her way to the bed and gently moved Shade over. Sitting down and leaning against the headboard, Celeste placed her coffee down on the end table and picked her book back up. Opening it to where she left off, her fingers found their way back into Shade's hair as she began to read once more.

I just wanted to write Shade and Celeste fluff. For those who do not know, these are a couple of my main ocs, along with Lunaris. Shade is a human who has been poisoned with demon blood, giving her a longer lifespan and great strength. Celeste is a Russian circus performer who has the blood of a dragon within her from her ancestors, so she can also turn into a dragon at will. Lunaris, as explained, is a princess. Of the moon.
Translations:
Котенок - Russian for kitten, cause my hc is that Celeste has Russian nicknames for all of her friends. For those who might be curious, Jack's Russian nickname is ящерица, or lizard.
