Wasser Map
Prologue
This book takes place in the XI century when vikings existed. Wasser, which is the island where the book starts is based on a real island, its real name is Jan Mayen, and the Ice Island is real as well (also known as Iceland).
This story was inspired by a dream I had when I moved to Canada. I missed all my friends, so that night I dreamt of my friends escaping and I was left behind, so I went looking for them. It might have been my emotional state, but that dream triggered a story in my head. I started shaping it up for months until I had a solid idea to write on.
Almost all of the characters are real people, I went around with a pen and a piece of paper and asked them what they wanted to be called on the book. It took me a year to finally write the whole story on my computer because I had a system. I wrote it down on a notebook, in Spanish, then I translated it into English on the computer. This system didn't just improve my English but my story as well. If there was something I didn't like in the Spanish version I could translate it into a better sentence/paragraph/chapter in the English version.

102 YEARS BEFORE
Three men were sitting in a dark room, night was falling and the windows were dirty, allowing only a small portion of light to enter. An old chandelier dimly lit the room since most of the flames had been extinguished. The air was cold and their breath created a cloud of vapour in front of their eyes. The man who seemed to be the eldest was holding a piece of parchment and a quill in his hands. "You should head home now Akseli, the storm is getting stronger." the man holding the parchment said. A table with a teapot and fancy cups had sat in front of them for hours yet none of them had seemed interested in the tea. "I believe my family can manage without me for a few more hours" the man sitting closest to the window answered "we still have much to discuss, Vitae" the man with the pen nodded and for the first time in their reunion he grabbed a cup and filled it with lingonberry tea. "Want tea Jackert?" he offered the youngest man the cup. "Oh no!" he exclaimed "I must not drink tea, I mustn't" then he reached his hand and grabbed the cup. Akseli snorted. "You come here because you want your family to be in power after I die but you get too nervous when someone asks you if you want tea?" Jackert opened his mouth but Vitae spoke before him "Akseli is ruler of Iceland, the Haddix family has been in charge for hundreds of years, why should you be the next king?" Jackert who was fiddling with his cup took a sip and answered "My family is very rich, we own a huge cloth factory, we... we know how to handle money... we have huge mansions down... er, I mean south of here." Akseli and Vitae looked at him and Vitae spoke "I believe we can make a deal" Akseli looked astonished, "Can we discuss this first, brother" Akseli asked him with a stern look on his face. "We'll just go talk about the deal out in the hall" Vitae said. "Sure" Jackert nodded and watched them leave the room and close the door that lead them to the dining room. Jackert glanced to the parchment Vitae had left behind and turned around to the door, it was completely shut and behind he heard indistinct voices trying to be quiet. Jackert stood up and started reading what the piece of parchment said:
