Morning Coffee

Lydia POV

It was a cold Saturday morning as I opened the door to the local coffee shop to order my daily coffee. A wave of heat and the smell of coffee surrounded me as I walked into the small shop. It was nice to go in early on the weekends since barely anyone would be in the shop. You could just sit there and work or read with your coffee in the peace and quiet which is what I often did every Saturday. I walked into the shop and re-adjusted the grey beanie that sat on top of my strawberry blonde locks and looked around the shop. It was practically empty aside from a lady sitting with her coffee and typing on her phone in one of the chairs. There was only one worker there. He had ruffled chestnut brown hair and whiskey coloured eyes. He was wearing a red flannel under his brown apron and he too sported a beanie but it was teal. He was pretty cute.  He smiled as I walked up to the counter to order. As I got closer to him I saw that his face was littered with moles and his caramel coloured eyes shone brightly with flecks of gold in them. I looked at his name tag and read that it said "Stiles". What the hell is a Stiles? I thought to myself.

"Good morning. What can I get for you today?" he said when I reached the counter.

"Hello, I would like a small coffee with two milks and one sugar please."

"Sure thing. Can I get your name?"

"Lydia."

"Lydia, what a beautiful name," Stiles said as he wrote on the cup with a sharpie. "That'll be $1.75."

I smiled at his comment and reached into my purse and handed him the money. He then proceeded to walk over to the machines to make my coffee. A couple minutes later he walked back with my drink in hand.

"One small coffee with two milks and one sugar for Lydia," he said with a smile as he handed me the coffee.

"Thank you. Have a nice day," I said as I turned around to find a seat.

"Thanks. You too," he responded.

I walked over to one of the tables and set my coffee down as I reached into my purse to grab the book I was currently reading. I sat down and picked up my coffee to take a sip. When I glanced at the cup, I saw that written on the spot where Stiles had supposedly written my name was the phrase "You're beautiful". I smiled softly at the cup before I turned in my chair and glanced around the coffee shop trying to find Stiles. I finally spotted him sitting behind the counter. I sat in my chair gazing absentmindedly at his face. I noticed how he had a slight dip in his nose and that the moles scattered all over his face seemed to form constellations. He had perfect lips and I was pretty sure I could get lost in his beautiful brown eyes forever. My eyes suddenly met Stiles' and I looked down as a light blush appeared on my cheeks when I realized he had been looking at me as well. There were no other customers waiting in line so Stiles walked out from behind the counter and began to walk in my direction.

"Hey Lydia, I'm Stiles," he said when he reached my table.

"I know," I replied and he gave me a funny a look.

"It says 'Stiles' on your name tag."

"Oh, right," he said with a light chuckle.

"Thank you for the note on my coffee cup by the way," I said as a smile graced my lips.

"You're welcome. You really are beautiful."

Blushes appeared on both of our faces.

"So, what are you reading?" Stiles asked me.

"Harry Potter, for I think something like the fiftieth time."

"Cool. I love the Harry Potter series as well. Do you know which house you're in?"

"Yep. Ravenclaw."

"Really? I'm also a Ravenclaw. What a coincidence," he said with a bright smile that showed off his pearly white teeth.

We continued to talk and I noticed that our conversation flowed easily. Stiles was probably one of the few people I had been able to have an easy conversation with when first meeting them. Talking with Stiles was like talking with an old friend you hadn't seen in a while; our conversation was effortless. I learned that his dad was the sheriff and that he was also a student at Beacon Hills High School but unfortunately we didn't take any classes together. I also discovered his best friend is Scott McCall who was my best friend, Allison Argent's boyfriend, which really made me wonder why I hadn't met him before since our best friends were dating. Stiles was on the lacrosse team, though he said he wasn't very good at the sport and he had a small obsession with Star Wars. I felt like I could talk to him for hours and never get bored or run out of things to talk about. We continued our conversation until another customer walked into the store.

Stiles stood up from the chair to help the next customer. He began to walk back to the counter  but suddenly turned back around to face me.

"Hey, uh, would you want to hang out sometime?" Stiles said as he nervously scratched his neck.

"I'd love to," I responded with a smile.

"Okay, great! Here's my phone number," he said as he scribbled his number onto my empty cup with a sharpie. "I have to get back to work now but I'll see you at school Lydia," Stiles said. He then turned around and walked to the counter to help the next customer.

"Bye," I said with a smile on my lips before taking out my phone so I could add his number to my contacts. I then picked up my coffee cup, book, and purse and got up to leave. I reached the door but before exiting I looked back to the counter and saw Stiles helping another customer. He glanced up and smiled at me and I smiled back. I then proceeded to push open the door and walk out of the small coffee shop grinning with the cup in hand.
