It was a sweltering hot summer's night, and the couple laid near eachother on the sofa. A soft melody of crickets chirped, and the gushing stream near the farm flowed on. Chase seemed to be reading about a new recipe, while Molly laid her head on his lap, and stared at ceiling. Not a word at all was exchanged, for the next few minutes.

Chase lifted his head up, looking deep in thought with his thumb and index finger around his chin. A countless number of slumberous minutes passed by. Molly glanced slowly at her boyfriend, and noticed a light gash on his neck, and quickly decided to speak up, "Chase.. what's that thing you have right there..?" Chase blinked back into reality to hear her voice. Struggling to generate a response, he quickly said "It's nothing."

"Let me get a closer look at it.." Molly proclaimed adamantly. She crawled up closer to him, and then sat up directly on his lap. Chase was about to protest, but then enjoyed such a close view of her. She was even more beautiful up close, with glistening shoulder length chestnut hair, and warm honey brown eyes. She was simply in a pair of tiny shorts, and a thin strapped black camisole. Thank the Harvest Goddess for this hot weather, he thought silently.

She looked extremely focused, and examined his neck thoroughly. He found her concentrated expression adorable. Chase smirked teasingly when her warm eyes met his amethyst orbs, causing her to blush a light bubblegum pink.   Molly then placed her dainty sun-kissed hand on his right shoulder to balance herself, and then tilted his chin further upwards. She ran her finger along the cut, causing Chase to wince and groan,"Nngh ouch.. be careful with that.."

"Ah! Um.. sorry.. but the cut looks pretty deep.. so why didn't you tell me about it? I would've tried to make it better.." replied Molly. "I told you, it's not  a big deal.", Chase retorted sharply. Molly gasped and exclaimed, "Not a big deal?!? But what if it gets infected? What if it never seals up?? What if it's permanent? Or maybe-"

Chase brought his lips to hers, silencing her immediately. He pulled her small delicate waist towards his torso, and broke the chaste kiss to say, "Forget about that.. you worry too damn much about the tiniest of things, Molly. I'm fine, really. It was just a small accident from cooking."

Molly blushed a deep shade of red, and mumbled, "I-I care about you though.. how could I not forget? You're too stubborn sometimes.. Chase.. y-you care so much about me, but never about yourself.."

"Damn right that I'm stubborn. And don't pay any attention to me, pay attention to yourself. I've seen you overwork yourself so many times, Molly. You need more care than I do, and I'll make sure you get that care you deserve."Chase objected.

"But-" Molly fretted.

"No, there's no denying it." Chase replied sternly.

"Well if you say so.. but let me help you too! I refuse to let you struggle as well.." she declared.

Chase's expression softened, and he pulled her closer into him. He softly kissed her on the cheek. Molly leaned against his chest, and played with his hairpins. He twirled around one of her soft honey brown locks. No words were exchanged, and there wasn't a need to. They both stayed like that for a while until they both fell asleep in the comfort of one another.   Only the crashing ocean waves,  the slight swaying of trees, and the harsh breezes can be heard.
