People of all races filed in the court room. However, none of them stood out as much as he did.

His messy blond hair, his pricing green eyes that were almost swollen shut. He was dressed in a tux and his lip was busted.

He walked past the gate and sat at the table next to mine. I just couldn't help myself; I jumped up a bit and he jumped back.

My lawyer hit my knee under the table and told me to quit. You know the story on why I'm here is a bit funny. You see, I was walking home and I saw something really bad...

"All rise for Judge Alexander."

I zoned out as the judge spoke and everyone sat down. My lawyer Kenji hit my knee again and told me to stand.

"Mrs. Cruz how do you plead?" The judge asked with a bother some tone and looking right at me. "Not guilty your honor." That statement seemed to amuse the man in robes.

"Not guilty? You almost beat a man to death. Do you know what your getting charged for?"

"Attempted manslaughter your honor..." The man at the other table looked at me as if I were crazy. Saying it so casually.

After that witnesses had been called up to the stand one by one. Including Mr. Sneed a homeless man that happened to be there at the time.

Half the witnesses took my side. The others took his. "Mrs. Cruz its your turn." I walked up to the stand and before I sat down I was asked to place my hand on a bible.

"Do you Mrs. Cruz swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth? So help you god." I watched the court room watch me.  I was in control right here...right now. "I, Christina Cruz, swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth..."

"I'm fully aware of the situation, but I'm sure the story was fabricated to fit his side... however it's not the truth."

Silence dances around me and wondering eyes travel the room. This is my moment to show the court that this man is truly in the wrong.

'It was a cold night with a storm forming above. I had my headphones in and singing the song Cell Block Tango... ironic right? Anyways people long ago took shelter in buildings in order to stay dry. I was alone or so I thought because it was right after I took my headphones out that I heard the cries of help from a dark ally.'

"And is this when you decided upon yourself to investigate something you assumed to hear? Not knowing for sure and not calling the police?" The plaintiff lawyer questioned while cutting me off.

"OBJECTION! I'm sure Ms. Cruz was getting to the reason why she decided to investigate there is no reason he should have cut her off!" Kenji my lawyer called out.

This information sat with the judge before he spoke again "Okay Ms. Cruz, continue your story." Again all eyes were on me so I hesitated no more.

'So yes, this is where I decided to explore the creepy, dark path that laid in front of me. Figuring it'd be best for myself to investigate instead of calling the police right away. Everyone knows what happens when you cry wolf, but there is no wolf.
